APPLICATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION TO THE HUMAN IRIS
Rather than rely solely upon pupillary occlusion or tracking of eye movement to protect the fundus from accidental exposure to electromagnetic radiation, the present invention also utilizes an electromagnetic radiation pathway with a profile such that the energy density at the iris is greater than the energy density at the posterior portion of the eye. This disparity in energy density allows for efficacy at the anterior iris treatment site, without injury to the fundus.
Eye treatment device, in particular for glaucoma
An eye treatment device, in particular for use in glaucoma therapy, comprising a least one applicator head for applying laser light (L) into the eye, said applicator head comprising at least one light guide having an exit end for the laser light (L) and a cavity having an opening enclosed by a contact ring for placement on the eye, said light guide extending self-supporting and/or exposed within the cavity.
PERSONALIZATION OF EXCIMER LASER FIBERS
The invention provides personalized laser probes for use in laser systems, wherein each laser probe includes one or more characteristics tailored to a given user to thereby improve performance of and outcome of a laser treatment procedure.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TREATING AQUEOUS COLLECTOR CHANNELS OF AN EYE TO REDUCE INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE
Devices and method for treating aqueous collector channels or tissue(s) associated with aqueous collector channels to improve or enhance outflow of aqueous humor from an eye thereby reducing intraocular pressure in the eye.
OPHTHALMIC TREATMENT DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention relates to an ophthalmic treatment apparatus and a control method therefor, and provides an ophthalmic treatment apparatus and a control method therefor, the ophthalmic treatment apparatus comprising: a setting unit formed so as to set a treatment mode; a therapeutic light emission unit emitting therapeutic light at a target position of an eyeground multiple times so as to perform treatment; a monitoring unit for monitoring information on the state of the target position by the therapeutic light during the emission of the therapeutic light; and a control unit for determining whether a treatment intensity according to the treatment mode has been reached, by using the information monitored by the monitoring unit, and for controlling an operation of the therapeutic light emission unit on the basis of the determination.
Methods and Probes for Intrascleral Laser Surgery
Methods of treating an eye are provided that entail partially penetrating the sclera and delivering light energy from an optical fiber within the penetration to treat the a target tissue in the eye, for example, to coagulate vasculature underlying the sclera within a planned incision area. Also provided are treatment probes for treating an eye of a patient includes an elongate body that defines a handle and an advanceable penetrating member and optical fiber housed within the elongate body. The probe is configured to advance the penetrating member so as to penetrate the sclera, only partially, and advance the treatment fiber into the penetration to deliver treatment light energy to coagulate the vasculature underlying the sclera. The probe can include one or more penetrating members and corresponding optical fibers to form one or more penetrations concurrently within the planned incision area.
Probes having fiber taper and fluid collection channel for ophthalmic laser treatment
A treatment probe for treating an eye of a patient includes an elongate body that defines a handle and a treatment fiber that is housed within the elongate body. The treatment fiber is configured to deliver treatment light energy to the eye. A contact member is disposed on an end of the elongate body. The contact member has a contact surface for positioning on a surface of the eye, two side edges that are positioned on opposite sides of the contact surface, and a fluid channel. The contact surface conforms to the shape of the eye's sclera and the two side edges are shaped to direct fluid that is present on the surface of the eye toward the fluid channel when the contact member is moved laterally across the surface of the eye. The fluid aggregates within the fluid channel and contacts a distal end of the treatment fiber.
ADJUSTABLE FLOW GLAUCOMA SHUNTS AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING SAME
Adjustable flow glaucoma shunts are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, an adjustable flow shunt can include an outflow drainage tube having a proximal inflow region and a distal outflow region. The proximal inflow region can include aperture(s) defining a fluid inlet area positioned to allow fluid to flow therethrough. The shunt further comprises an inflow control assembly at the proximal inflow region. The inflow control assembly can include a control element configured to slidably engage the proximal inflow region and a spring element. The spring element is configured to be activated by non-invasive energy and, upon activation, slidably move the control element along the proximal inflow region such that (a) the one or more apertures are accessible and have a first fluid flow cross-section or (b) the one or more apertures are at least partially covered by the control element and have a second, different fluid-flow cross-section.
COMBINATION TREATMENT USING ELT
A method of treating a subject having glaucoma comprises performing excimer laser trabeculostomy (ELT) on a subject having glaucoma and having previously undergone a failed treatment or a treatment that has been rendered ineffective by progression of the disease. In some examples, the failed treatment is a non-surgical treatment comprising administering medicated eye drops. In some examples, the failed treatment is a laser treatment or surgical treatment, such as a trabeculoplasty, iridotomy, iridectomy, trabeculectomy, trabeculotomy, goniotomy, surgical insertion of a shunt or implant, deep sclerectomy, viscocanalostomy, or a combination thereof.
OPHTHALMIC LASER APPARATUS
An ophthalmic laser apparatus comprises a laser light source; a light guide device, configured to guide a laser beam generated from the laser light source; a support bracket, configured to support a patient's head for the patient's eye to be perpendicular to a horizontal plane; a positioning device, configured to position a position of the patient's eye; a laser beam projector, the laser beam projector being movable to be aligned with the patient's eye and projecting the laser beam from the light guide device; a moving stand, configured to move the positioning device and the laser beam projector along an X direction, a Y direction, and/or a Z direction; and a controller, configured to control the laser light source to irradiate the laser beam and to control the laser beam projector to project the laser beam toward the patient's eye.
