BODY CAST FOR THE HUMAN BODY
An apparatus comprising a support wrap. The support wrap including at least an upper portion, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a first side extending along a first direction by a first length, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a second side extending along a second direction by a second length, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a third side extending along a third direction by a third length, the first direction is in a different direction than the second direction, the first direction is in a different direction than the third direction, the first length being greater than the second length, the first length being greater than the third length, the upper portion including a first upper fastening member, and said first upper fastening member capable of fastening said first side to said second side.
ADHESIVE WOUND DRESSING
An adhesive wound dressing is disclosed herein. The adhesive wound dressing comprises a first layer that is an outer layer. A second layer is a resilient layer and affixed to an inner surface of the first layer. A third layer is an inner gauze dressing and affixed to an inner surface of the second layer, wherein the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer define a generally tubular configuration having an open end and a closed end. An adhesive layer may be applied adjacent to the open end for configured securing the adhesive wound dressing to a wounded body part subsequent to the wounded body part being inserted within the open end.
System and method for donning and labeling a body cast
A system and method for donning and labeling a body cast provides a protective body cast that is labeled. The system and method provides a protective body cast that forms padded protection around the body of a bedridden patient; and especially around the hip, buttock, and lower extremity pressure points. The body cast is composed of a nanomaterial and serves as an envelope for an inner lining of a softer material such as a composite foam rubber. The body cast is sectioned into a multi-layered enclosing cloth support wrap that is fabricated from a nanomaterial, an inner surface having padding, and at least one auxiliary padding that detachably attaches to the body cast for additional padding. Labels detachably attach to the lower portion of the support wrap for indicating information pertinent to the patient. A caregiver accesses the label to read and mark directly on a bedridden patient.
PATIENT MEDICAL ACCESS OPENING PROTECTION DEVICE
A medical access opening protection device including an annular adhesive band carried on an outer perimeter region of a moisture-impervious film, a release liner carried by the adhesive band, and an annular barrier band of barrier material disposed concentrically within the adhesive band. The moisture impervious film may have sufficiently high maximum elongation value and ultimate tensile strength to accommodate medical equipment without breaking and without causing the adhesive band to break contact with a user's skin. Alternatively, or in addition, the film may comprise an annular flange and blister surrounded by the annular flange, and the annular adhesive band is disposed on the annular flange.
ADJUSTABLE LOOP SHAPED BANDAGE
A bandage includes a first end portion having a first perimeter size and a bottom surface and a top surface. The bandage further includes a second end portion arranged opposite the first end portion, the second end portion having a second perimeter size with a bottom surface and a top surface. The second perimeter size may be smaller, larger or the same as the first perimeter size. An elongated portion extends between the first end portion and the second end portion. The first end portion is configured to be applied to a wound with the bottom surface of the first end portion contacting the wound, the elongated portion being configured to wrap around a body part positioned adjacent to the wound, and the bottom surface of the second end portion is configured to be secured to or near the top surface of the first end portion.
NON-ADHESIVE ELASTOMERIC ARTICLES
Non-adhesive articles include an elastomeric layer, where the elastomeric layer has a plurality of cuts arrayed in a pattern. The cuts are gaps, but the gaps are not visible to the naked eye when the article is in an unstressed state, and in a stressed state, at least some of the cuts become gaps that are visible to the naked eye. The gaps are perforations in the elastomeric layer and are apertures through which one can view through the elastomeric layer. The perforations indicate the presence of stress in the article, and the elastomeric layer has a lower effective modulus of elasticity in at least one axis than an identical elastomeric layer without the plurality of cuts.
Wound care article having a substantially polygonal or ellipsoid main surface and at least one recess arranged on one side
The invention relates to a flat wound care article having an essentially polygonal or ellipsoid base surface and at least one recess arranged on one side.
MEDICAL DRESSING FOR A CONVEX BODY PART
Disclosed is a medical dressing having a pad and a border portion. The pad can have a rim and the border portion extends along said rim. The medical dressing can be arranged in a first substantially planar configuration and be folded along a first line, and a second portion of said medical dressing is formed and a second substantially cup-shaped configuration. The first portion can be facing and contacting said second portion. Said first substantially planar configuration the first and second portions can be connected by means of a fixed connection along a second line, which defines a second line segment having a first and a second end-point. The first and second line segments are connected at their respective first end-points such that an angle between 90 and 175 degrees is formed between the first and second line segments when the medical dressing is in the first substantially planar configuration.
CONFORMABLE MEDICAL DRESSING WITH SELF SUPPORTING SUBSTRATE
A medical dressing comprising a backing layer and a self-supporting substrate. The backing layers form a perimeter around the self supporting substrate and holds the self supporting substrate in place on a wound. The self supporting substrate comprises a valve. The adhesive article forms a sealed environment between the medical article and the surface surrounding the wound such that a negative pressure can be maintained in the sealed environment through the valve.
ORTHOPEDIC DEVICES
Orthopedic devices and low temperature shrinking materials used in such devices are described in this application. The low temperature shrinkable materials have a shrink ratio ranging up to about 7:1 at a low temperature ranging from about 100 to about 150 F. Using these lower temperatures to shrink the materials of the orthopedic devices onto the body part of the patient has less risk of injuring the patient than previous materials. The orthopedic devices can contain different sections with higher and lower amounts of the low temperature shrinkable materials. Other embodiments are described.
