The absorbent core useful for an absorbent article comprises a substrate layer, a discontinuous layer of absorbent material, and a layer of thermoplastic material. A second surface of the discontinuous layer of absorbent material is in at least partial contact with a first surface of the substrate layer. Portions of a second surface of the layer of thermoplastic material are in direct contact with the first surface of the substrate layer and portions of said second surface of the layer of thermoplastic material are in direct contact with a first surface of the discontinuous layer of absorbent material. A process for providing a storage layer for an absorbent core useful in an absorbent article is further disclosed.
Apparatus for manufacturing absorbent core of disposable worn article, and replacement method for replacing part of the apparatus
An apparatus for manufacturing an absorbent core includes: a dispenser for dispensing a fiber; a fiber-stacking drum for stacking the dispensed fiber on the outer circumferential surface while sucking the fiber toward an inside; and a fixed frame for rotatably supporting the fiber-stacking drum. The fiber-stacking drum includes: a rotation shaft; a wheel attached to the distal end of the rotation shaft; and a fiber-stacking ring provided on an outer circumference portion of the wheel for stacking the fiber A suction chamber is fixed to the fixed frame The suction chamber is arranged on an inner side of the fiber-stacking ring and produces a suction force toward an inner circumference of the fiber-stacking ring. The fiber-stacking drum is supported by the fixed frame so as to be slidable in an axial direction of the rotation shaft; and the wheel is removably attached to the distal end of the rotation shaft via a fastener.
Method for Making a Shaped Nonwoven
A nonwoven fabric comprises a first surface, a second surface, and a visually discernible pattern on at least one of the first and second surfaces. The visually discernible pattern has a regular, repeating pattern of three-dimensional features. Each of the three-dimensional features define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions having a difference in values for an intensive property. The first surface has a TS7 value in the range of about 1 dB V.sup.2 rms to about 15 dB V.sup.2 rms. The second surface has a TS7 value in the range of about 1 dB V.sup.2 rms to about 15 dB V.sup.2 rms. A ratio of the TS7 value of the first surface to the TS7 value of the second surface is in the range of about 1 to about 3.
Apparatus for manufacturing an absorbent article with channels
A method for manufacturing an absorbent article, said method comprising guiding a first sheet material along a rotating member, wherein a surface of said rotating member is provided with a pattern with at least one suction zone and at least one non-suction zone; applying an absorbent material on said first sheet material on the rotating member; locally removing the absorbent material applied on at least one attachment portion of the first sheet material located above the at least one non-suction zone, such that at least one remaining portion of the first sheet material located above the at least one suction zone is covered with absorbent material and substantially no absorbent material is present on the at least one attachment portion; applying a second sheet material on top of the absorbent material on the first sheet material.
ABSORBENT BODY PRODUCTION DEVICE AND ABSORBENT BODY PRODUCTION METHOD
An absorbent body production device and an absorbent body production method can suppress scattering of an absorbing substance during spraying of the absorbing substance to a substrate. A substrate is conveyed along a rotating outer circumferential surface of a conveyance drum. A granular absorbing substance is discharged from a spray port of a spray apparatus facing the outer circumferential surface of the conveyance drum, and the absorbing substance is sprayed to the substrate which is conveyed along the outer circumferential surface of the conveyance drum. The spray position at which the absorbing substance is sprayed to the substrate is controlled. For example, the position of the spray port of the spray apparatus, or the angle at which the absorbing substance is discharged from the spray port of the spray apparatus is controlled.
Package of absorbent articles utilizing a shaped nonwoven
A package of personal care articles. Each of the personal care articles has a nonwoven substrate as a component. The nonwoven substrate can have a first surface defining a plane of the first surface and a non-regular pattern of a plurality of three-dimensional features extending outwardly from the plane of the first surface. The non-regular pattern can include a first zone of first three-dimensional features and a second zone of second three-dimensional features, wherein in at least one of the first or second zones of the plurality of three-dimensional features has a first three-dimensional feature having a first intensive property and a second three-dimensional feature having a second, different intensive property. The personal care articles can be compressed in the package.
Ultra thin laminate with particulates in dense packages
The present invention is directed to a method of forming a laminate absorbent structure, and a resulting package containing a single continuous running web of the laminate material. Notably, formation of the material is effected by blending a curtain of adhesive fibers with a curtain of particulate material, and depositing the mixture on a moving substrate, preferably provided in the form of a tissue layer. A second substrate, also preferably comprising a tissue layer, is applied on top of the deposited mixture, and pressure applied to form the laminated structure. Notably, attendant to packaging of the laminated material, adjacent layers of the material tend to nest into one another, to form a sandwich in which the density of the material in the package is more than 1.5 times the density of the material after its removal from the package.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING ABSORBENT STRUCTURES INCLUDING FLEXIBLE MASKING MEDIA
Methods and apparatuses for forming fibrous web structures are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of forming a fibrous web comprises positioning a masking media over a foraminous forming member having a forming surface, the masking media producing covered portions and uncovered portions of the forming surface, applying vacuum pressure so as to draw air through the forming surface, depositing fibrous material onto the forming surface to form a fibrous web. The masking media may be flexible such that the at least one masking media is sucked tight to the forming surface and forms direct contact with the forming surface where vacuum pressure is applied, thereby preventing the fibrous material from flowing between the at least one masking media and the forming surface.
