Packaged feminine hygiene pad product adapted for discreet carry and access, and manufacturing process

A product including a feminine hygiene pad provided in a folded configuration within an individualized package is disclosed. The pad is folded separately of the package and contained within the package. The pad may include a backsheet adhesive coversheet including a section of polymeric film adhered to an outward-facing side of the backsheet of the pad, and a deposit of backsheet adhesive disposed between the backsheet adhesive coversheet and the backsheet, the backsheet adhesive coversheet and the backsheet adhesive being selected and adapted such that the backsheet adhesive coversheet may be peeled away from the pad to expose the backsheet adhesive without substantial damage to a remainder of the pad, and such that the backsheet adhesive remains substantially in place and adhered to the backsheet following peeling away of the backsheet adhesive coversheet.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH TRANSVERSAL BARRIER

The present disclosure pertains to a method for the manufacture of an absorbent article (1) comprising the steps of: providing a front panel (2) comprising front and back transversal edges; providing a back panel (3) comprising front and back transversal edges; providing an absorbent insert (4) comprising front and back transversal edges and left and right longitudinal edges connecting the front and back transversal edges to form a perimeter thereof; folding a portion of the front panel (2) proximal to the front transversal edge and/or folding a portion of the back panel (3) proximal to the back transversal edge, about at least two folding lines (62, 63) to form a folded arrangement (64), joining said absorbent insert (4) to said folded arrangement (64), unfolding a portion of the folded arrangement (64) and folding a portion of said absorbent insert (4) proximal to the front and/or back transversal edges thereof onto itself, preferably in the shape of a substantially U-fold, to form transversal waist barrier(s) (5); and joining said front and back panels (2, 3) together along a pair of oppositely disposed side seams.

The present disclosure also relates to an apparatus to manufacture an absorbent article (1) according to the present method and an absorbent article (1).

Absorbent core for an absorbent article

An absorbent core for an absorbent article is provided an absorbent material, the absorbent core comprising one or more first zones comprising a first amount of absorbent material and one or more second zones comprising a second amount of absorbent material, wherein each second zone is at least partly delimited from the other second zones by the one or more first zones characterized in that the first amount of bulk absorbent material is different than the second amount of absorbent material, each amount of absorbent material being determined as weight per unit area.

DISPOSABLE PRODUCT APPARATUSES AND METHODS

An apparatus which makes an absorbent insert for an absorbent product includes a die cutting unit which die cuts at least one channel in an assembly that includes an absorbent core material within at least one web. The core material and the at least one web are adhesively secured together. Methods of making same are also provided.

Apparatus for forming and applying a pleated core wrap

An apparatus for forming and applying a pleated core wrap includes a feeding mechanism configured to feed a continuous web of material in a machine direction and a pleating unit configured to form one or more continuous folds in the continuous web of material, so as to form a continuous pleated web of material with a portion of the web of material overlapped in a cross-machine direction. A core-forming drum receives the continuous pleated web of material, the core-forming drum including at least one depression provided on an outer circumferential surface thereof, the depression having a floor having one or more inserts protruding radially outward therefrom. A vacuum system provided a vacuum to the depression that is communicated through the floor to suction the continuous pleated web of material down into the depression, with regions of the continuous pleated web of material separating upon being suctioned down into the depression.
