Kit For Delivering a Surgical Tampon to an Anatomical Cavity of a Patient
A kit for disposing a surgical tampon into an anatomical cavity of a patient, and particularly in the nasopharyngeal region of a patient. The kit has an apparatus with a hollow deployment tube into which a compressible tampon may be removably disposed upon manipulation by a doctor. The tampon may have one or more associated functional additives to assist the doctor or patient with a surgical procedure. The kit may comprise a plurality of mutually identical or mutually different surgical tampons.
REPOSITIONABLE SURGICAL TAMPON
A conformable surgical tampon for disposition into and removal from an anatomical cavity of a mammalian patient by a doctor to absorb and collect bodily fluids. The tampon comprises an absorbent chassis material and a plurality of spaced apart positioning strings attached to the chassis. The spaced apart positioning strings are operative to selectively position the conformable nasopharyngeal tampon within an anatomical cavity of a patient responsive to manipulation of a positioning string by a surgeon. The tampon is particularly suited for nasopharyngeal surgery.
Apparatus and Method for Delivering Medication to the Otorhinolaryngologic Region of a Patient
An apparatus that includes a conformable and compressible nasopharyngeal tampon and a method for delivering the tampon to an anatomical cavity of a patient. The tampon is configured to collect and remove posterior nasal fluid from a patient. The tampon may be compressably and slidably disposed in a longitudinally extending deployment tube having mutually opposed proximal and distal ends. A longitudinal plunger is slidably disposed within and extends out of the proximal end of the deployment tube. The distal end of the plunger is disposed in choanae and/or nasopharynx of the patient. Upon manual actuation, the plunger is activated to deliver the tampon to the nasopharyngeal region of a mammalian patient. Optionally, positioning strings may be joined to the tampon, to fine tune positioning of the tampon within the choanae and/or nasopharynx.

MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device includes a handle with a primary actuator and one or more secondary actuators, an end cap configured to be coupled to a distal end of another medical device and including stationary and movable portions, one or more patches that are coupled to the movable portion, one or more control elements coupling the primary actuator to the movable portion; and one or more actuation elements. The one or more actuation elements extend from the one or more secondary actuators to a position between a portion of the one or more patches and the movable portion of the end cap. Movement of the primary actuator moves the movable portion of the end cap relative to the stationary portion of the end cap, and movement of the one or more secondary actuators at least partially deploys the one or more patches from the movable portion of the end cap.
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device includes a handle including a main body and a movable body, a sheath element coupled to the handle, an actuation element disposed within the sheath element, an end cap configured to be coupled to a distal end of another medical device, and a patch positioned on the end cap and coupled to the actuation element. The patch includes a mesh and an expandable structure coupled to the mesh. The expandable structure is configured to be coupled to the actuation element, and the expandable structure is further configured to cause the mesh to retract and expand.
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device includes a handle, an end cap, and a patch. The handle includes a movable body and a stationary body. The movable body includes an actuation member. The end cap is configured to be coupled to a distal end of a scope. The patch is movable relative to the end cap. The patch is coupled to the movable body via one or more control elements such that movement of the movable body extends the patch from the end cap. The patch is further coupled to the actuation member via one or more actuation elements such that movement of the actuation member extends, bows, or bends the one or more actuation elements to at least partially deploy the patch.
Urinary plug device
A disposable device for absorbing urine and/or bodily fluids in the urethra having a cylindrical body having a top and bottom end. The body is made of absorbent material that expands upon contact with urine and bodily fluids and includes a string connected to the bottom end of the body for removing the device from the urethra. The device can include a vasodilator in or on a surface of the body and can be used to treat urinary incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction by inserting into the urethra and removing the device after it has been impregnated with fluid. The device can be included in a kit with a plunger for insertion.
READY-TO-USE, HYDROPHILIC, SELF-DISPERSIVE, FRAGMENTABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE POROUS SPONGE MATRIX AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF
The invention relates to porous absorbent Composite Material, which may be used e.g. in the form of a plug or tampon, for instance for controlling bleeding, wound closure, prevent tissue adhesion and/or support tissue regeneration. The invention provides a hydrophilic Self-Dispersive, fragmentable and Bio-Absorbable Porous Composite foams, suitable for packing antrum or other cavities of the body, comprising of composite of polymers, which polymer preferably comprises C(O)O; NH2/3+; OH; CH2OCH2C(O)O groups as functional or CHO (e.g. C2H4O; C6H10O5; C6H8O6); CHNO (e.g. C8H13NO5); OCC (e.g. O-CH2-CH2); C(O)N groups in the backbone of the polymers e.g. gelatin, chitosan, collagen, alginate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, keratin, cellulose.
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
