An asymmetrical menstrual device is disclosed, with functional pressure points that aid in the insertion, opening, and removal of the device and requires minimal contact with the device itself, as well as with the body while placing inside the vaginal canal. Major design elements support ease of placement and effective opening of the device to create a seal, while minimizing pressure in sensitive areas. Another design feature is the length, functionality, and malleability of the removal stem that can be adapted to any length up until the base of the device. These elements enable greater cleanliness, comfort, and overall ease of use.

The present invention relates to novel and secure tampons that overcome the problems associated with conventional non-secure tampons, and methods of using the novel and secure tampons.

The device (10) has a handle (16) fixed to an end of a shaft (14). The handle is provided for the insertion of a detachable collection container (12) into a vagina, for rotation of the collection container about its longitudinal axis within the vagina or for the removal of the collection container from the vagina. The handle is provided with a hole (24), which is connected with the hollow interior of the shaft or a ventilation tube to ensure the supply of air to prevent pressure differences during removal of the collection container from the vagina. An independent claim is included for a method for absorption and controlled discharge of liquid excretion from a vagina.

A protective device for insertion into the crevice adjacent to the anus, and cover adjacent portions of the derriere. The protective device cover includes a solid sheet of material with an adhesive on one side which can be used to apply the cover directly onto the portion directly around and adjacent to the anus after it has been inserted into the crevice. The cover also includes slits or holes through which evacuated material may pass through. The cover may also be made from a plastic wrap type material that adheres to human skin when pressure is applied. In an alternate embodiment, a wiping pad is provided between two layers of the cover, which traverses the hole opening when a string is pulled to effect at least partial cleaning in the anus area. This almost eliminates the need for toilet paper, keeps the body clean, and avoids excessive contamination.

In another embodiment of the tampon, the leak shield comprises a fluid impervious or fluid repellent material(s). In another embodiment of the tampon, the leak shield comprises of an absorbent or hydrophilic material. Yet in another embodiment, the leak shield comprises of multiple layers of materials that are hydrophilic, hydrophobic, or a combination thereof. A method of fabricating a tampon includes forming a pledget, combining a fluid-impervious polymer material with an absorbent material to define a polymer laminate, ramming the pledget and the laminate into an oven tube, and stitching the laminate to the pledget.

Provided is a tampon applicator having one or more insertion indicators to gauge and/or control the insertion depth of a tampon. The one or more insertion indicators may be located on the tampon applicator barrel, plunger, tampon, removal string, or any combinations thereof. As a result of the one or more insertion indicators, a woman can adjust the insertion depth of the tampon to her body's requirements ensuring leakage protection, comfort, or both.

Provided is a tampon applicator having one or more insertion indicators to gauge and/or control the insertion depth of a tampon. As a result of the one or more insertion indicators, a woman can adjust the insertion depth of the tampon to her body's requirements ensuring leakage protection, comfort, or both.

Medical devices and related methods useful for EVAC procedures are described. The medical device may include a sponge. The sponge may include a plurality of perforations that form one or more tear surfaces. The one or more tear surfaces may define a predefined location for removing a first portion of the sponge from a second portion of the sponge. The one or more tear surfaces may form a boundary between a radially inner surface of the first portion and a radially outer surface of the second portion. The medical device may further include a tube coupled to a proximal portion of the sponge.
