MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device includes a handle, an end cap, and a patch. The handle includes a movable body and a stationary body. The movable body includes an actuation member. The end cap is configured to be coupled to a distal end of a scope. The patch is movable relative to the end cap. The patch is coupled to the movable body via one or more control elements such that movement of the movable body extends the patch from the end cap. The patch is further coupled to the actuation member via one or more actuation elements such that movement of the actuation member extends, bows, or bends the one or more actuation elements to at least partially deploy the patch.
TAMPON ASSEMBLY HAVING A SHAPED PLEDGET
A tampon assembly having a barrel, a plunger, and a pledget is provided. The plunger is slidably received in the barrel. The pledget is in the barrel between the insertion tip and the plunger so that a force applied on the plunger can expel the pledget from the barrel. The barrel has a plurality of petals defining an insertion tip, which has a first taper ratio of more than about 0.3 to less than 1.0. The pledget has a shaped tip that is disposed in the insertion tip.
FOAMING ACTION PHARMACEUTICAL HEMOSTAT
A dissolvable foaming action hemostat may be compressed and may fully dissolve in a wound. The foaming action hemostat may use a liquid gel, a dried gel, a dry powder, a shape, or a solid plug like medium that may resemble a sponge or a sponge-like material and may include a foaming agent to spread therapeutic ingredients throughout the wound to control or stop bleeding. The foaming action hemostat also may introduce pharmaceuticals and/or other compounds into a wound to control/mitigate shock, calm the patient, administer antibiotics, administer anti-sepsis compounds, control infection, control sepsis, and/or mitigate pain. No harmful foreign matter is introduced in using a foaming action hemostat. This eliminates the need to surgically remove introduced foreign matter later. Use of a foaming action hemostat also may reduce the likelihood of trauma that sometimes occurs when foreign matter is left in place inside a wound.
Visually perceptible tampon housed within an applicator
The present disclosure is directed to a hygiene device including an applicator housing a tampon. The tampon can include a primary absorbent member having a leading end, a trailing end opposite the leading end, and an intermediate region. The primary absorbent member can include a first tampon color. The tampon can also include a secondary absorbent member which is mechanically tied to the primary absorbent member. The secondary absorbent member can include a second tampon color. The tampon can further include a withdrawal member disposed on at least one of the secondary absorbent member and the primary absorbent member. The withdrawal member can include a third tampon color. The applicator can include an insertion portion that includes an opaque region and a plunger operatively engaged with the insertion portion. The plunger can have a transparent region such that at least one of the secondary absorbent member and the withdrawal member is visually perceptible through the applicator.
Protective ring for tampon applicator
A tampon applicator system includes a body and a protective ring extending outward from the body. The body includes a pinch zone and an opening. The pinch zone is disposed on the body below the protective ring and on an opposite side of the body from the opening. The protective ring is configured to protect the pinch zone from exposure on the opposite side of the protective ring.
COMPACT TAMPON APPLICATOR WITH TWO-PIECE PLUNGER
A compact applicator has a two-piece telescoping plunger. The compact applicator, with such telescoping plunger, has a full-size barrel region while maintaining an overall applicator length that is the same and/or slightly shorter than current known compact applicators. In a non-deployed configuration, the inner sleeve of the plunger is generally telescoped within the outer sleeve of the plunger, and the outer sleeve of the plunger is generally telescoped within the applicator barrel.
Tampon
A tampon including a body having a longitudinal axis, a front end, a rear end and an outer surface. The body including a liquid-absorbing material operable to absorb and/or retain bodily fluid. A bore extending through the body along the longitudinal axis from the front end to the rear end, said bore defining an inner surface. The tampon also including a liquid-impermeable layer, which includes a liquid-impermeable elastic material and a liquid-permeable layer. The liquid-absorbing material is a fluid. One of the liquid-impermeable layer or the liquid-permeable layer is on at least a portion of the outer surface of the body of the tampon. The other of the liquid-impermeable layer or the liquid-permeable layer is on at least a portion of the inner surface of the body. In use, the liquid-impermeable layer and the liquid-permeable layers are operable to move between a first configuration and a second configuration.
MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS
A medical device comprises a handle, wherein the handle includes a primary actuator and a secondary actuator, an end cap configured to be coupled to a distal end of another medical device, wherein the end cap includes a stationary portion and a movable portion, a patch, wherein the patch is coupled to the movable portion of the end cap, one or more control elements coupling the primary actuator to the movable portion of the end cap, and an actuation element, wherein the actuation element extends distally from the secondary actuator and the actuation element is configured to be coupled to the patch, wherein movement of the primary actuator moves the movable portion of the end cap relative to the stationary portion of the end cap, and wherein movement of the secondary actuator at least partially deploys the patch from the movable portion of the end cap.
Tampon product including applicator having components molded of pulp-based composite
A tampon applicator assembly is disclosed. The applicator assembly may include a barrel portion, a grip portion and an ejection plunger configured to slide coaxially within one or both the barrel portion and the grip portion. One or more of the barrel portion, grip portion and ejection plunger may be molded from a molding composite comprising cellulose fibers.
