The wearable garment is folded inward and sealed within a pouch portion adjacent to the absorbent layer. The wearable garment is enclosed within the pouch portion by a removable adhesive layer that is configured to either be kept in place allowing the entire garment to be used as a commonly known sanitary napkin or the adhesive can be removed thereby allowing the wearable garment to be unfolded and worn. The entire sanitary garment may then be disposed after use.

The bonding unit bonds the web layers together via a bond pattern that includes bond lines that each have at least one pair of adjacent bonds, which anchor the combined elastic thread assembly within a passage defined by a pair of adjacent bonds in each of the plurality of bond lines. The passage is narrower than the combined elastic thread assembly in a non-tensioned state and wider than one of the plurality of elastic threads in a non-tensioned state.

The backsheet layer can have a garment attachment mechanism located on a garment facing surface of the backsheet layer. The absorbent article can further have a protection layer situated over and engaged with the garment attachment mechanism. The protection layer can be capable of being at least partially dis-engaged from the garment attachment mechanism. The protection layer of the absorbent article can be utilized by the wearer to provide additional area of coverage as deemed suitable by the wearer of the absorbent article.
