The heater (5) has a combustion portion (53) in which stoichiometric combustion of hydrogen and oxygen is caused, and a mixing portion (55) configured to mix discharged steam (S4) from the high-pressure steam turbine (2) with combustion gas (R) from the combustion portion (53) and to supply the obtained product to the low-pressure steam turbine (3).
CHEMICAL LOOP COMBUSTION SYSTEM WITH DOWNSTREAM WATER-GAS SHIFT REACTOR STAGE
A chemical looping combustion (CLC) based power generation, particularly using liquid fuel, ensures substantially complete fuel combustion and provides electrical efficiency without exposing metal oxide based oxygen carrier to high temperature redox process. An integrated fuel gasification (reforming)-CLC-followed by power generation model is provided involving (i) a gasification island, (ii) CLC island, (iii) heat recovery unit, and (iv) power generation system. To improve electrical efficiency, a fraction of the gasified fuel may be directly fed, or bypass the CLC, to a combustor upstream of one or more gas turbines. This splitting approach ensures higher temperature (efficiency) in the gas turbine inlet. The inert mass ratio, air flow rate to the oxidation reactor, and pressure of the system may be tailored to affect the performance of the integrated CLC system and process.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCIES OF POWER AND OTHER INDUSTRIAL PROCESS PLANTS
This present invention describes methods and systems for integrating liquid-phase, electrochemical and chemical processes into power generation, petrochemical, metal, cement and other industrial process plants, in such a manner as to capture and recycle all input carbon into cost-competitive hydrogen, oxygen and hydrocarbons. These integrated systems will recover internally generated losses in chemical potential (AG Gibbs Free or Available Energy) as well as waste heat (ΔH—Enthalpy), and sometimes electricity, to assist in driving these electrochemical and chemical processes, which will increase the total useful output of the process plants, thereby increasing thermal, carbon and economic efficiency.

The combined power plant includes a gas turbine configured to combust fuel to generate a rotating force, a boiler configured to heat water to generate steam, an ammonia decomposition apparatus configured to receive a combustion gas generated in the gas turbine to thermally decompose ammonia to generate a decomposed gas containing hydrogen, nitrogen, and a residual ammonia, a steam turbine configured to generate a rotating force using the steam generated in the boiler, and a decomposed gas supply line configured to supply the decomposed gas generated in the ammonia decomposition apparatus to a combustor of the gas turbine.
Method of producing liquid fuel from carbonaceous feedstock through gasification and recycling of downstream products
A feedstock delivery system transfers a carbonaceous material, such as municipal solid waste, into a product gas generation system. The feedstock delivery system includes a splitter for splitting bulk carbonaceous material into a plurality of carbonaceous material streams. Each stream is processed using a weighing system for gauging the quantity of carbonaceous material, a densification system for forming plugs of carbonaceous material, a de-densification system for breaking up the plugs of carbonaceous material, and a gas and carbonaceous material mixing system for forming a carbonaceous material and gas mixture. A pressure of the mixing gas is reduced prior to mixing with the carbonaceous material, and the carbonaceous material to gas weight ratio is monitored. A transport assembly conveys the carbonaceous material and gas mixture to a first reactor where at least the carbonaceous material within the mixture is subject to thermochemical reactions to form the product gas.
