This disclosure relates to a process for removing acid gases from a gas stream enriched in acid gases, wherein: (a) the gas stream enriched in acid gases is contacted in an absorption zone with an absorption medium, wherein the absorption medium is an aqueous medium comprising an amine, to form a gas stream depleted in acid gases which comprises an entrained amine and an absorption medium enriched in acid gases; and (b) treating the gas stream depleted in acid gases which comprises an entrained amine in a first scrubbing zone with a first scrubbing medium, wherein the first scrubbing medium is an aqueous medium comprising an amine, the amount of amine comprised by the scrubbing medium being about 0.1 to about 50.0 wt. %, wherein the aqueous medium is saturated with carbon dioxide such that at least 75 wt. % of the amine, based on the total amount of amine comprised by the aqueous medium, is in its carbamate or carbonate form, to form a gas stream depleted in acid gases and in amine and a first scrubbing medium enriched in amine.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCING CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS FROM A FLUE GAS GENERATED VIA COMBUSTING A FOSSIL FUEL

A system for reducing carbon dioxide emissions from a flue gas generated via combusting a fossil fuel is provided. The system includes a carbonator and a classifier. The carbonator is configured to receive the flue gas and carbon absorbing particles. The classifier is fluidly connected to the carbonator and configured to receive a mixture that includes heat-transferring particles and the carbon absorbing particles. The mixture is fluidized within the classifier via the flue gas at a velocity such that the flue gas entrains and transports the carbon absorbing particles to the carbonator while the heat-transferring particles are not entrained nor transported to the carbonator.

A burner assembly combines oxygen and fuel to produce a flame. The burner assembly includes an oxygen supply tube adapted to receive a stream of oxygen and a fuel supply tube arranged to extend through the oxygen tube to convey a stream of fluidized, pulverized, solid fuel into a flame chamber. Oxygen flowing through the oxygen supply tube passes through oxygen-injection holes formed in the fuel supply tube and then mixes with fluidized, pulverized, solid fuel passing through the fuel supply tube to create an oxygen-fuel mixture in a downstream portion of the fuel supply tube. This mixture is discharged into the flame chamber and ignited in a flame chamber to produce a flame.

It also relates to methods of and apparatus for hydrating carbon dioxide and capturing carbon. The solid metal materials may be nickel nanoparticles. The invention finds particular application in the sequestration of carbon dioxide either at the point of release or from the atmosphere.

A control signal can be generated based on a reference signal, the measured value, and the deviation value for sending to at least one element of the plant (1) for controlling a process of the plant (1).

A method for generating steam for hydrocarbon production is provided. The method includes producing steam using heat from an exhaust stream from a gas turbine system. A water stream is condensed from combustion products in the exhaust stream, and the water stream is used as a make-up water for production of the steam.

The invention involves at least two compression steps, a combustion step, a carbon dioxide capture step, a power generate step, and a sweep-based membrane separation step. One of the compression steps is used to produce a low-pressure, low-temperature compressed stream that is sent for treatment in the carbon dioxide capture step, thereby avoiding the need to expend large amounts of energy to cool an otherwise hot compressed stream from a typical compressor that produces a high-pressure stream, usually at 20-30 bar or more.

For example, a method for operating a power plant may include: generating electrical energy from a combustion process, extracting carbon dioxide from a flue gas generated during the combustion process; storing the extracted carbon dioxide; acquiring current electricity price data; comparing the current electricity price data with an electricity price threshold; and if the electricity price falls below the electricity price threshold, operating an electrolysis device to convert stored carbon dioxide into other substances.

An inlet temperature of a deduster is measured by a temperature sensor and the inlet temperature measured by the temperature sensor is inputted to a controller and is compared with a set temperature more than an acid dew-point preliminarily set in the controller. On the basis of a comparison result, an opening-degree control signal is outputted from the controller to the combustion-support-gas flow control damper so as to make the inlet temperature to a set temperature more than an acid dew-point.
