In some embodiments, a combustion system comprises a first combustion zone, a second combustion zone downstream of the first combustion zone, and a heat module thermally coupled to the first combustion zone and/or second combustion zone. The first combustion zone is configured to (i) receive and combust preheated air and a first fuel and (ii) generate a first exhaust gas, and the second combustion zone is configured to (i) receive and combust the first exhaust gas and a second fuel and (ii) generate a second exhaust gas. The first exhaust gas can have a first excess air and the second exhaust gas can have a second excess air less than the first excess air. The heat module can comprise a thermionic converter or another heat-to-electricity converter able to generate a power output.
LIQUID FUEL SELF-SUSTAINING COMBUSTION BURNER FOR FLAME SYNTHESIS
The present disclosure relates to a liquid fuel self-sustaining combustion burner for flame synthesis, including a swirl-flow cylinder and a stable combustion cylinder. A swirl-flow plate is disposed at an open end of the swirl-flow cylinder and defines swirl-flow outlets. A tangential inlet tube is mounted on the swirl-flow cylinder and in fluid communication with the swirl-flow chamber. An open end of the swirl-flow cylinder extends into the stable combustion chamber. The fuel can be atomized by an atomizer and sprayed into the stable combustion chamber for combustion. Air introduced from the tangential inlet tube can flow into the swirl-flow chamber and advance spirally around the central stabilizing column to reach the swirl-flow plate. The airflow is partially injected into the stable combustion chamber through the swirl-flow outlets, and then continues to spirally advance. An atomizing nozzle of the atomizer is located inside the swirling airflow.
Multi fuel flame-less combustor
A flameless combustor usable with multiple fuels comprises a combustion chamber and fuel lines in communication with the chamber.
CONSTANT DENSITY HEAT EXCHANGER AND SYSTEM FOR ENERGY CONVERSION
A constant density heat exchanger and system for energy conversion is provided. The constant density heat exchanger includes a housing extending between a first end and a second end and defining a chamber having an inlet and an outlet. A first flow control device is positioned at the inlet of the chamber and movable between an open position in which a working fluid is permitted into the chamber and a closed position in which the working fluid is prevented from entering the chamber. A second flow control device is positioned at the outlet of the chamber and movable between an open position in which the working fluid is permitted to exit the chamber and a closed position in which the working fluid is prevented from exiting the chamber. A heat exchange fluid imparts thermal energy to the volume of working fluid as the first flow control device and the second flow control device hold the volume of working fluid at constant density within the chamber.
Method and shaft furnace for burning carbon-containing material in a shaft furnace
A shaft furnace for firing carbonate-containing material may include, in a flow direction of the material, a preheating zone, a firing zone, a cooling zone, and a material outlet for discharging the material from the shaft furnace. Burner lances project into the firing zone. At least one burner lance has a first penetration depth into the firing zone and at least one further burner lance has a second penetration depth into the firing zone that is greater than the first penetration depth. A primary air conduit may be configured to convey combustion air and may be connected to at least one burner lance. An oxygen conduit for conveying oxygen into the firing zone may be arranged such that oxygen flows from the oxygen conduit at least one burner lance having the second penetration depth.
PLANT AND PROCESS FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT
A process for energy management includes actuating a closed cyclic thermodynamic transformation, first in one direction in a charge configuration/phase and then in the opposite direction in a discharge configuration/phase, between a casing for the storage of a working fluid other than atmospheric air, in gaseous phase and in equilibrium of pressure with the atmosphere, and a tank for the storage of the working fluid in liquid or super-critical phase with a temperature close to its own critical temperature. In the charge phase, the process accumulates heat and pressure. In the discharge phase, the process generates energy. The process includes actuating, with at least one part of the working fluid, at least one closed thermodynamic cycle, even at the same time as the charge phase or as the discharge phase; and heating the working fluid by means of at least one oxy-combustion within the closed thermodynamic cycle.
ROTARY FIRING DEVICE, FURNACE AND ROTARY FIRING METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a rotary firing device, furnace and rotary firing method thereof. The rotary firing device is arranged on the roof of the furnace and includes an installation base, an adjusting arm and a tubular burner. The installation base and the adjusting arm are fixed on the roof of the furnace, the middle portion of the tubular burner is rotationally connected to the installation base, and the output end of the tubular burner is located inside the furnace. The output end of the adjusting arm is connected to the middle portion of the tubular burner.

The present invention presents a scrubber burner composed of a preheating spray ring that is formed with a porous material with certain thickness, and that preheats and sprays the fuel gas in the preheating combustion space formed inside, a preheating guide ring equipped with multiple preheating guide holes that wrap the outer circumference of the aforementioned preheating spray ring, and that penetrates from the outer circumference to the inner circumference, and a preheating burner module equipped with a housing that forms a ring shaped gas channel that is separated from the outer circumference of the aforementioned preheating guide ring and through which the aforementioned fuel gas flows.
Incineration apparatus and method
The invention relates to an Incineration apparatus, comprising a fluidized bed redox reactor (2) having—a reaction chamber (8) with particulate matter and—a fluidized bottom with at least one reducing agent inlet (9) for a gas to fluidize the particulate matter.
Integrated chemical looping combustion system and method for power generation and carbon dioxide capture
A chemical looping combustion (CLC) based power generation, particularly using liquid fuel, ensures substantially complete fuel combustion and provides electrical efficiency without exposing metal oxide based oxygen carrier to high temperature redox process. An integrated fuel gasification (reforming)-CLC-followed by power generation model is provided involving (i) a gasification island, (ii) CLC island, (iii) heat recovery unit, and (iv) power generation system. To improve electrical efficiency, a fraction of the gasified fuel may be directly fed, or bypass the CLC, to a combustor upstream of one or more gas turbines. This splitting approach ensures higher temperature (efficiency) in the gas turbine inlet. The inert mass ratio, air flow rate to the oxidation reactor, and pressure of the system may be tailored to affect the performance of the integrated CLC system and process.
