A method is disclosed for operating a multi-gear vehicle transmission in a motor vehicle during a coasting phase. The coasting phase includes an overrun phase with a driving gear engaged and a freewheeling phase with the neutral gear engaged. It is determined whether the motor vehicle is in the overrun phase of the coasting phase, whether a condition for a transition to the freewheeling phase of the coasting phase is fulfilled, and whether a transmission condition with elevated drag losses exists. If the motor vehicle is in the overrun phase of the coasting phase, if the condition for transition to the freewheeling phase is fulfilled, and if a transmission condition with elevated drag losses exists, then at least one further shifting element (D, E) is closed in addition to the shifting elements (A, B, C) of the driving gear, which are closed during the overrun phase of the motor vehicle.

Control apparatus of power transmission system for vehicle

A control apparatus of a power transmission system for a vehicle calculates estimated driving force while taking account of inertia loss torque and a transmission efficiency, during execution of automatic parking control for automatically parking the vehicle at a target parking position. During execution of automatic parking control, the control apparatus sets a traveling mode to a gear traveling mode in which power is transmitted via a gear mechanism, or sets the traveling mode to a belt traveling mode in which power is transmitted via a stepless speed change mechanism, and fixes the speed ratio of the stepless speed change mechanism to the lowest-side speed ratio.

A coasting regeneration control method of a vehicle equipped with a continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) engine includes: determining, by an engine control unit (ECU), whether a current state of the vehicle satisfies coasting regeneration conditions; and entering, by the ECU, a coasting regeneration mode and performing regenerative braking when the current state of the vehicle satisfies the coasting regeneration conditions, in which when the coasting regeneration mode is entered, a throttle valve is fully opened so that the amount of intake air of the engine is maximized, a CVVD target duration is controlled to be maximized, and a closing time of an intake valve is delayed after a start point of time of a compression stroke, thereby decreasing pumping loss of the engine.

BRAKING FORCE CONTROL DEVICE

The braking force control device detects an impossible state where one or some of the actuators are temporarily unable to generate a negative driving force, and a predictive state where one or some of the actuators are predicted to become unable to generate a negative driving force. Every time the coasting state occurs before establishment of the impossible state and after establishment of the predictive state, the braking force control device gradually increases the negative driving force generated by the corresponding one or ones of the actuators. Even when the coasting state occurs in the impossible state, the braking force control device does not cause the corresponding one or ones of the actuators to generate a driving force. Every time the coasting state occurs after the impossible state, the braking force control device gradually decreases the negative driving force generated by the corresponding one or ones of the actuators.

STABILITY SYSTEM FOR AN ARTICULATED MACHINE IN A COASTING MODE

The state and stability of a machine and a threshold value for an acceptable level of the stability of the machine are determined based on different potential machine states or operations. Sensor inputs including machine speed and whether the machine is in a coasting mode, lift height of a payload, an articulation angle of the machine, a pitch angle, and a roll angle of the machine are used to generate a model for estimating a time series of values for the degree of stability of the machine by solving a physics-based equation or retrieving data from a database. The best estimates of a current degree of stability of the machine are used along with structural design information characterizing the machine, and other machine operational parameters including speed and whether the machine is in a coasting mode, and braking or other machine actions for retarding motion of the machine are automatically implemented without any operator intervention in order to maintain the degree of instability of the machine within an acceptable range.

Control device for vehicle and control method for vehicle

A controller includes a control unit which is configured to execute a coast stop control. The coast stop control is configured to perform automatic stopping of the drive source while the vehicle is traveling, when a permitting condition is satisfied, the permitting condition including a condition that a speed ratio R of the variator is lower than a first threshold R1 while the lock-up clutch is in an engaged phase. The control unit is configured to prohibit execution of the coast stop control in a case in which an input-output rotation speed difference of the torque converter is equal to or more than a predetermined value when the lock-up clutch is in the engaged phase.

A control device controls a lockup clutch interposed between an engine and an automatic transmission mechanism of a vehicle. The control device includes a control part supplying hydraulic pressure to the lockup clutch and controlling differential pressure of the lockup clutch. The control part supplies the hydraulic pressure to the lockup clutch so that the differential pressure is lower than a reference differential pressure in a disengaged state of the lockup clutch. In a case of shifting the lockup clutch from the disengaged state to an engaged state, the control part supplies the hydraulic pressure to the lockup clutch so that the differential pressure increases as a filling ratio of an oil passage of the lockup clutch decreases. The reference differential pressure is a lower limit of the differential pressure that increases a slip ratio of the lockup clutch or reduces a slip amount of the lockup clutch.

Vehicle control system

A vehicle control system is provided to maintain an SOC level of the battery during autonomous operation of the vehicle. The control system is applied to a vehicle that can be operated autonomously by controlling an engine, a motor, a steering system, a brake system etc. autonomously by a controller, and the vehicle is allowed to coast by manipulating a clutch. During autonomous operation of the vehicle, a first coasting mode in which the engine is stopped and the clutch is disengaged is selected if the SOC level is higher than a threshold level, and a second coasting mode in which the engine is activated and the clutch is disengaged is selected if the SOC level is lower than the threshold level.
