The treatment device may be provided with an introduction device for introducing an exhaust gas G2 including dust, odor and water vapor from the mixing device to a gas outlet of a bottommost cyclone 4A of the cement burning device.

Methods and Systems for Sizing Waste Solids

Methods and systems for reducing an average particle size of blackwater solids is disclosed. A vessel is configured to receive a blackwater stream through a one-way inlet. The one-way inlet is configured to allow the blackwater stream into the vessel and prevent backflow. The blackwater stream contains blackwater solids and water. A device in a bottom portion of the vessel is configured to receive the blackwater and comminute the blackwater solids. A recirculating pump is configured to recirculate the blackwater stream under pressure through the device until the average particle size of the blackwater solids is reduced below a size threshold, resulting in a sized blackwater stream.

Remediation of organic wastes by thermal degradation of polyfluoroalkyl and microplastic contaminants

A reactor (16) for the remediation of polyfluoroalkyl- and/or microplastic-contaminated feedstocks includes an elongated, horizontally oriented, axially rotatable drum (34) having a shell (72) within a housing (32), with a feedstock input assembly (38) adjacent one end of the drum (34) and a feedstock output assembly (40) adjacent the opposite end thereof. A burner (94) within the housing (32) generates hot combustion gases which surround the drum (34) in order to conductively heat feedstock passing through the drum (34). The invention substantially completely remediates the feedstocks through volatilization of the contaminants.

METHOD AND APPARATUS TO INCREASE WASTEWATER BIOREACTOR PROCESSING CAPACITY WHILE REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

A wastewater treatment method and apparatus separating suspended solids in influent wastewater streams, and injecting SO.sub.2 or sulfurous acid into the suspended solids at a pH and dwell time to generate sufficient sulfurous acid with free SO.sub.2, sulfites and bisulfites to self-agglomerate the suspended solids, acid leach heavy metals contained in and on the suspended solids into solution for subsequent separation, condition the suspended solids for chemical dewatering producing a dried biofuel biosolid with less than 10% by weight water and a BTU content between 6,000 and 9,000 BTU/lb., and gasifying or combusting the dried acid treated suspended solids to produce power or energy with reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

UNIVERSAL FEEDER FOR GASIFICATION REACTORS
20200332205 · 2020-10-22 · ·

A universal feeder system that combines with a fluidized bed gasification reactor for the treatment of multiple diverse feedstocks including sewage sludge, municipal solid waste, wood waste, refuse derived fuels, automotive shredder residue and non-recyclable plastics. The invention thereby also illustrates a method of gasification for multiple and diverse feedstocks using a universal feeder system. The feeder system comprises one or more feed vessels and at least one live bottom dual screw feeder. The feed vessel is rectangular shaped having three vertical sides and an angled side of no less than 60 degrees from the horizontal to facilitate proper flow of feedstock material that have different and/or variable flow properties. The feedstocks are transferred through an open bottom chute to a live bottom dual screw feeder and through another open bottom chute to a transfer screw feeder that conveys feedstock to the fuel feed inlets of a gasifier.

Polyhydroxyalkanoate production during wastewater treatment
10807893 · 2020-10-20 ·

A wastewater treatment process elicits microorganisms to convert a waste stream/organic resource to intracellular biopolymer polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). The process includes (i) waste stream/organic resource composition feed criteria, (ii) configuration coupled with operational parameters, and (iii) PHA-laden biomass separation and stabilization. A waste stream/organic resource capable of producing enhanced levels of PHA may be selected based on a combination of criteria, which may include short chain fatty acid concentration, protein concentration, polysaccharides concentration, and total suspended solids concentration. The waste stream is introduced into an aeration basin or sequencing batch reactor upon a specific configuration and operated under various parameter combinations for selecting/enriching microorganisms capable of producing PHA. The PHA-laden biomass is separated and stabilized for downstream PHA related product beneficial uses. The present process achieves concurrent wastewater treatment and PHA production, where PHA level (of more than 10% on a cell-weight basis) otherwise could not be obtained.
