Tufted Geotextile With Increased Shear Resistance To Hydraulic Infill Displacement And Dry-Flow Loading
A tufted geotextile for covering a land surface, comprising a porous backing sheet densely tufted to provide simulated grass blades having interstices therebetween on a tuft gauge of about 20 tufts per foot to about 50 tufts per foot and the adjacent lines spaced about ¼ inch, the interstices for receiving an infill from the backing sheet to a fill plane to increase shading of the interstices by the tuft blades on the backing sheet while resisting hydraulic displacement and movement of the infill while overlying the ground surface for covering purposes. A closure system is disclosed using the tufted geotextile as a component overlying an impermeable geomembrane for resisting inflow of water below the ground surface.
Sealing wall building material and method for producing a sealing wall building material
The invention relates to a sealing wall building material, which has a binding agent with cement and aggregates. It is provided according to the invention that the binding agent comprises a mixture of cement and fly ash, wherein it is free of clay material, and that it has an impermeability with a kf value of 10.sup.−7 m/s and less.
Gas Sampling and Management System
A gas monitoring and control system including a gas sampling chamber, sampling inlet and outlet valves, a pump and a controller. Sensors are disposed within the interior chamber that sense characteristics of a gas from a gas source and generate representative signals. The sampling inlet and outlet valves i) allow the gas into the gas sampling chamber while operating in a gas sampling state, and ii) allow ambient air into the gas sampling chamber while operating in a purge state. The pump i) causes the gas to flow through the gas sampling chamber while operating in the gas sampling state or ii) causes ambient air to flow through the gas sampling chamber while operating in the purge state. The controller causes the sampling inlet and outlet valves, and the pump to alternate operating in the gas sampling or purge state to selectively expose the sensors to the gas.
Landfill gas extraction control system throttle
A system for extracting landfill gas from a landfill is provided. According to some embodiments, a control system for landfill gas extraction is provided. The control system uses a throttle to control flow of landfill gas extracted from the landfill. The throttle is actuated in use to vary the flow of gas between a well and a gas collection system, in accordance with a control algorithm that adjusts flow as a parameter in controlling gas extraction. The throttle is configured to ensure that there is at least some flow of landfill gas from the landfill to a gas output throughout operation. The extraction system provides an efficient system for landfill gas extraction, while mitigating a risk of creating undesired or unpleasant conditions and/or of violating regulations during operation.
Geologic disposal of uranium waste products
Steel and/or copper spherical capsules are specifically engineered and manufactured for housing uranium waste products. The uranium waste products are placed within the spherical capsules. Human-made cavern(s) and/or substantially lateral wellbore(s) are constructed for receiving the uranium waste containing spherical capsules. The human-made cavern(s) and/or the substantially lateral wellbore(s) are deeply located in specific types of geologic rock formations thousands of feet below the Earth's surface. These uranium waste containing spherical capsules are loaded from the Earth's surface into the human-made cavern(s) and/or into the substantially lateral wellbore(s). The emplaced spherical capsules are surrounded by an immersive protective medium within the given human-made cavern(s) and/or within the substantially lateral wellbore(s). The given human-made cavern(s) and/or the given substantially lateral wellbore(s), with the uranium waste containing spherical capsules, are sealed off.
Landfill gas extraction systems and methods
A control system for controlling extraction of landfill gas from a landfill via a gas extraction system, the gas extraction system comprising well piping for coupling a plurality of wells to a gas output. The control system comprises a controller configured to: obtain a value indicating measured energy content of landfill gas collected at the gas output from the plurality of wells; determine whether the measured energy content is different from a target energy content; and in response to determining that the measured energy content is different from the target energy content: control a plurality of valves disposed in the well piping to change flow rates of landfill gas being extracted from at least some of the plurality of wells at least in part by changing degrees to which the plurality of valves are open.
Automated remote gas monitoring and flare control system
The present invention comprises a remote gas monitoring system (RGMS) which improves soil-gas monitoring and data management tasks at landfills and other impacted sites while reducing errors in data collection. The remote gas monitoring system incorporates multiple remote gas monitoring sensors and allows for continuous monitoring of landfill soil-gas composition and more efficient and cost-effective operation of a landfill flare system. The invention also comprises a method of controlling the operation of a landfill flare by signaling the flare to begin and cease operation based on predetermined threshold landfill gas concentrations.
Shear Resistant Geomembrane Using Mechanical Engagement
An elongated polymeric impermeable geomembrane sheet having opposing first and second surfaces with a plurality of spaced-apart first projections extending from the first surface, said first projections each tapering to a pointed apex at a distal extent, which first projections for mechanically engaging a synthetic drainage geomesh sheet overlaid by a tufted geotextile sheet and in contact with adjacent fill materials within the aggregation, whereby the aggregation has increased resistance to shear failure of the aggregation of fill materials and reducing stabilization failures of materials aggregation applications. A ground covering closure system is disclosed.
Flexible Mat Forming System
A flexible mat forming system may include an elongate, rotatable drum having a plurality of transverse rows of mold cavities about an outer periphery thereof, an elongate hopper positioned adjacent the drum, the hopper shaped to receive a hardenable paste and deposit the hardenable paste along a facing row of the plurality of transverse rows of mold cavities, a spool assembly for feeding a sheet of mesh material between the hopper and the facing row, and a retaining plate extending partially about the outer periphery of the drum and positioned on a downstream side of the elongate hopper, the retaining plate spaced sufficiently close to the outer periphery to retain the mesh material against the outer periphery of the drum and the hardenable paste within the mold cavities adjacent the retaining plate.
Multilayer Polyethylene Geomembrane Liners
Multilayer polyethylene (PE) geomembrane liners for unconventional thermal conditions and methods of making them are disclosed. The liners have N co-extruded stacked layers, each layer being made from a PE masterbatch composition comprising a given amount of PE resin and additives, and of a PE metallocene based resin free of acid neutralizer compounds. Also disclosed are customized multilayer PE geomembrane liners of N co-extruded stacked layers, each layer being made from a PE masterbatch comprising a specific additive providing specific behaviour property to the layer; wherein at least two of the N layers comprise a different specific additive in order to provide a geomembrane liner having at least two layers with different behaviour property. The liners have a water-bath aging performance for about 6 months immersion at about 80° C. per ASTM D5322—modified for water, such that about 80% of high pressure OIT value retained per ASTM D5885.
