TELECOMMUNICATIONS METHOD AND SYSTEM
A mobile communications unit for communicating data to and/or from base stations, the unit being arranged to communicate data with one or more base stations via a wireless access interface provided by the one or more base stations; arranged to receive transmissions from the one or more base stations via at least one carrier, wherein carriers are logically separate sets of physical resources within a frequency range, the resources of a carrier providing a communication channel; and arranged, upon reception of allocation information comprising an indication of the location of common information within a first carrier, to access the common information in the first carrier, wherein the allocation information is provided in a second carrier and the common information is for at least one mobile unit using the first carrier and for at least one mobile unit using a second carrier.
INFRASTRUCTURE MONITORING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
An infrastructure monitoring assembly includes a nozzle cap defining an internal cavity; an antenna positioned at least partially external to the internal cavity; and the antenna covered with a non-metallic material. An infrastructure monitoring assembly includes a nozzle cap defining a first end and a second end, the first end defining a threaded bore configured to mount on a nozzle of a fire hydrant; a cover coupled to the nozzle cap opposite from the first end; an enclosure positioned at least partially between the cover and the first end, the enclosure at least partially defining a cavity; a monitoring device positioned within the cavity; and an antenna positioned between the cover and the first end of the nozzle cap, the antenna connected in electrical communication with the monitoring device, the antenna covered by a non-metallic material.
ANTENNA METER APP
Disclosed is an over-the-air (OTA) antenna meter application (“meter app”) that wirelessly connects to an OTA antenna meter (“meter”) installed with an OTA antenna and presents information that facilitates a user in installing the OTA antenna at the premises of a customer. For example, the meter app can help the user in pointing and peaking the OTA antenna for one or more broadcast channels, e.g., those selected by the customer. The meter app can store installation information of the OTA antenna for various installations, which can be used in generating a recommendation of, or predicting, installation information for installing the OTA antenna at a specified address. The predicted installation information can include broadcast channels that would be available for reception at the specified address and their signal strength, a specific location of installation on the premises, or whether a pre-amplifier and/or filter is required.
SECURE TAMPER RESISTANT DATA PROCESSING, STORAGE, AND TRANSMISSION GATEWAY AND CONTROLLER AND DATA ANOMALY DETECTION PROGRAM
Tamper-proof gateways are described. A gateway comprises a date intake module, a data transmission module, a tamper switch and a controller. The data intake module couples to one or more data generation devices. The data transmission module is configured to transmit sense information generated by the one or more data generation devices to a network. The tamper switch is configured to generate an alert signal in response to sensing tampering of the tamper-proof gateway. The controller is configured to: 1) place the tamper-proof gateway in a secure state in response to receiving the alert signal from the tamper switch, and 2) withdraw the tamper-proof gateway from the secure state in response to receiving authentication information. Withdrawing the gateway from the secure state may comprise placing the tamper-proof gateway in a first privileged state or a second privileged state.
Compact ultrasonic flowmeter
A compact ultrasonic flowmeter for measuring flowrate and other fluid related data of a fluid includes a flow tube with a flow bore for passage of the fluid between an inlet and an outlet, a flowmeter housing, a printed circuit board arranged in the flowmeter housing and including a processor for controlling operations of the flowmeter, a meter circuit including ultrasonic transducers provided on the printed circuit board and configured for operating the ultrasonic transducers to transmit and receive ultrasonic wave packets through the fluid, a display mounted on the printed circuit board and configured for displaying a measured flowrate and the other fluid related data, one or more battery packs for powering flowmeter operations, and two or more backing devices arranged to provide a holding force to the ultrasonic transducers, forcing a lower side of the ultrasonic transducers against transducer areas provided on the flow tube.
Intelligent electronic device with hot swappable battery
An intelligent electronic device (TED) is provided. The IED includes a metering sub-assembly and an input base module sub-assembly. The metering sub-assembly is hinged to the input base module sub-assembly, where when in an open position, various cables, connectors, and input/output cards/modules are accessible. Various input/output cards/modules are interchangeable to add/change functionality and/or communication capabilities to the IED.
Compact ultrasonic flowmeter
A compact ultrasonic flowmeter for measuring flowrate and other fluid related data includes a flow tube with a flow bore for passage of the fluid between an inlet and an outlet, a flowmeter housing associated with the flow tube, a printed circuit board arranged in the flowmeter housing and including a processor for controlling operations of the flowmeter, a meter circuit including ultrasonic transducers provided on the printed circuit board and configured for operating the ultrasonic transducers to transmit and receive ultrasonic wave packets through the fluid, a display mounted on the printed circuit board and configured for displaying a measured flowrate and the other fluid related data, one or more battery packs for powering flowmeter operations, and an antenna element configured to be connected to a radio circuit via connectors provided on the printed circuit board and/or the antenna element.
Systems and methods for detecting and reporting anomalies in utility meters
Systems and methods for utility intervention are disclosed. The method of utility intervention includes: obtaining utility data from a utility data repository, (ii) detecting, using at least one type of anomaly-detecting module, at least one utility anomaly and a location address; (iii) calculating an amount of financial savings for the utility anomaly if the utility anomaly was remedied or addressed; (iv) computing a certainty score for the utility anomaly; (v) conveying information about the type of utility anomaly, and the location address of the utility anomaly; and (vi) displaying, on a display screen of a client device, a map depicting a geographical area that identifies, using a flag icon, the location address on the map of the utility anomaly, the type of the utility anomaly, a certainty score for the utility anomaly, and/or an amount of financial savings associated with the utility anomaly.
Method and apparatus for actively managing consumption of electric power over an electric power grid
A client device manages consumption of power supplied by an electric utility to power consuming devices. Power flow to the power consuming devices is selectively enabled and disabled by one or more controllable devices controlled by the client device. The client device receives a power control message from a load management server. The power control message indicates at least one of an amount of electric power to be reduced and an identification of at least one controllable device to be instructed to disable a flow of electric power to one or more associated power consuming devices. Responsive to the power control message, the client device issues a power management command to one or more controllable devices under the client device's control. The power management command causes the one or more controllable devices to disable a flow of electric power to the one or more associated power consuming device.
Smart Remote Power Management Method and Apparatus
Embodiments disclosed herein include a power management apparatus including a smart circuit breaker (“iCB”) that wirelessly communicates with one or multiple power consuming devices. The iCB also communicates with a power provider (power company) to manage preset power quotas for consumers. Aspects include management of device priorities such that devices with higher priorities receive power before those with lower priorities when quotas are exceeded for a consumer premises.
