Device to Reduce and Redirect Leaks
The device which may be attached inside or outside the pancreas/abdomen during surgery addresses leaks of pancreatic juice or pancreatic effluent (PE) after resection by redirecting and inactivating PE. Specifically the PE enzymes (proteases) are inactivated. Redirection is through an internal biodegradable self powered self eliminating drain with increasing gradient and then targeting or inactivating the effluent with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) such as-protease inhibitors which are contained in graduated micro-encapsulated particles (GMEPs) coated with pH and time release shells which the device locates at optimum locations in the pancreas/abdomen. Another iteration is redirecting PE by containing the device within a mesh filled with GMEP comprising protease inhibitors (antiprotease) to inactivate PE before flowing out via openings in the mesh into the abdominal cavity as an inactivated innocuous fluid.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHANNELS
An absorbent article has a front side, a back side, a longitudinal axis, a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet and an absorbent core between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core includes a first type of channels, wherein the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap are bonded to another, and a second type of channels, wherein the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap are not bonded or are less bonded to one another in this second type of channels than in the first type of channels. The absorbent material may also include cellulose and superabsorbent particles.
Topsheet comprising natural fibers
A topsheet for use in an absorbent article is provided and has at least a first layer. The first layer comprises at least 15% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer. The first layer has a plurality of apertures. The first layer comprises land areas between the plurality of the apertures. The contact angle on the land areas of the first layer between the plurality of the apertures is more than 70°, according to the Contact Angle Test Method. The topsheet has a run-off of less than 40%, according to the Run-off Test Method.
Topsheet comprising natural fibers with good mechanical strength
A topsheet for use with an absorbent article is provided and comprises a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is a spunlace nonwoven and comprises at least 15% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer. The first layer comprises a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of apertures. The first layer and the second layer are in contact with each other between the plurality of the protrusions. The second layer has a plurality of apertures at least partially aligned with the apertures of the first layer. The first layer has a minimum CD strength of at least 3N/(5 cm), according to the Tensile Strength Test Method.
Absorbent article with conforming features
An absorbent has longitudinal and lateral centerlines, first, second, and target regions, the target region being disposed between the first second regions. Each of the first, second target regions extend laterally across the disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article also has a topsheet; a backsheet; an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; a fluid management layer disposed between the topsheet and absorbent core; and a target zone disposed in the target region. The target zone has a first plurality of conforming features in at least the absorbent core or a combination of the absorbent core and at least one of the topsheet or fluid management layer. The absorbent article also has a long fiber network.
WEARABLE ARTICLE COMPRISING AN ELASTIC BELT LAMINATE
A wearable article comprising an elastic laminate with an inner web and an outer web being in a face to face relationship, and a skin-facing outer surface and a garment-facing outer surface. The elastic laminate has a total caliper when subjected to the NMR MOUSE method as defined herein, the total caliper having a first 200 μm sub-caliper corresponding to 200 μm of the total caliper starting from the skin-facing outer surface and extending towards the garment-facing outer surface, and a last 200 μm sub-caliper corresponding to 200 μm of the total caliper starting from the garment-facing outer surface and extending towards the skin-facing outer surface. The elastic laminate has a % Liquid Ratio in the first 200 micron sub-caliper to total caliper of less than 20% after 1 minute according to the NMR MOUSE method.
WEARABLE ARTICLE COMPRISING AN ELASTIC LAMINATE
Wearable article comprising an elastic laminate with excellent sweat management properties. The elastic laminate comprises a first web and a second web. The second web is formed of a first fibrous layer and a second fibrous layer, which are integrally combined with each other. The second fibrous layer may be more hydrophilic than the first fibrous layer; and/or the second fibrous layer may have higher average surface area per volume than the first fibrous layer.
Absorbent article with a lotioned topsheet
An absorbent article having a longitudinal axis extending in a longitudinal direction and a transversal axis extending in a transversal direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The absorbent article comprises a fluid-permeable topsheet, a lotion on the topsheet having a lotion pattern covering a lotion pattern area, a fluid-impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core between the topsheet and the backsheet. The core wrap defines a core footprint in a plane parallel to the longitudinal direction and transversal direction. The article comprises an intermediate layer between the topsheet and the absorbent core, the intermediate layer comprising at least one longitudinally-extending channel, preferably at least a pair of longitudinally-extending channels disposed symmetrically on each side of the longitudinal axis. The topsheet is depressed in the channel(s). The lotion-to-channel overlap ratio ranges from 0% to 20% of the area of the channel(s). The lotion-to-channel overlap ratio is the percentage of the channel(s) of the intermediate layer overlapping with the lotion pattern.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES COMPRISING SEMI-HYDROPHILIC COMPOSITIONS
An absorbent article having a topsheet with natural fibers and a semi-hydrophilic composition is provided. The semi-hydrophilic composition may have a wax ester and a polyglyceryl emulsifier in a ratio of between about 0.5:1 and 1.5:1. The topsheet may have a Contact Angle of between about 35° and about 100°. The topsheet may have a Fluid Strike-Through time of between about 0.5 seconds to about 18 seconds and a wicking height of between about 0 mm and about 10 mm.
DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT HYGIENE PRODUCT WITH TOPSHEET AND ACQUISITION LAYER
A disposable absorbent hygiene product is provided, including a main part having a body facing surface intended to face the body of a user and a garment facing surface intended to face away from the body of a user. The main part includes a liquid permeable topsheet at the body facing surface, a liquid impermeable backsheet at the garment facing surface, and an absorbent assembly arranged between the topsheet and the backsheet. The liquid permeable topsheet material includes a hydrophilically treated polypropylene spunbond nonwoven or spunbond/meltblown composite nonwoven, having a basis weight of from 8 to 20 g/m.sup.2. An acquisition layer material is provided sandwiched between said topsheet and said absorbent assembly, being an through air bonded nonwoven.
