Described herein are systems and apparatuses for enhanced comfort through contact pressure reduction. In particular, the systems and apparatuses disclosed herein prevent or otherwise mitigate pressure by actively orienting a patient over an anatomy-specific pressure-mitigating contact surface on which the patient rests. A pressure-mitigating contact portion of the contact surface includes a plurality of independently pressurized chambers configured in a specific geometric pattern that is designed to mitigate contact pressure between a support surface (e.g., bed or chair) and a specific anatomic region of a patient’s body when the specific anatomic region of the patient’s body is oriented over an epicenter of the geometric pattern. Additionally, a plurality of elevated side support portions and a wedge interconnected on the base material are configured to actively orient the specific anatomic region of the patient’s body over the epicenter of the geometric pattern.

An underpad for covering a patient support structure includes an upper, patient facing surface and a lower, support structure facing surface. The underpad includes a liquid permeable patient facing layer and a liquid impermeable base layer. An absorbent layer is positioned above the base layer and below the patient facing layer, and a tissue layer is positioned above the absorbent layer and below the patient facing layer. An ink is deposited on the tissue layer. The ink is more readily visible through the patient facing layer than through the base layer.

A forming apparatus for forming a plurality of apertures in a nonwoven substrate is provided. The apparatus includes intermeshing members having a first and second member. The first member includes a body portion and a plurality of conical-shaped pins. The plurality of conical-shaped pins each have a first section having a first wall extending from a base portion to a distal portion, at least a portion of the first wall disposed at a first angle greater than 17.5 degrees relative to a central axis. The plurality of conical-shaped pins each have a second section having a second wall extending from a base portion, the base portion extending from the first member body portion, at least a portion of the second wall disposed at a second angle relative to the central axis of each conical-shaped pin, the second angle being different than the first angle and less than 20 degrees.

A forming apparatus for forming a plurality of apertures in a nonwoven substrate is provided. The apparatus includes intermeshing members having a first and second member. The first member includes a body portion and a plurality of conical-shaped pins. The plurality of conical-shaped pins each have a first section having a first wall extending from a base portion to a distal portion, at least a portion of the first wall disposed at a first angle greater than 17.5 degrees relative to a central axis. The plurality of conical-shaped pins each have a second section having a second wall extending from a base portion, the base portion extending from the first member body portion, at least a portion of the second wall disposed at a second angle relative to the central axis of each conical-shaped pin, the second angle being different than the first angle and less than 20 degrees.

A urine absorption pad for preventing leakage of urine is provided. A urine absorption pad includes: a front surface sheet (16) which has water permeability and contacts a skin; a back surface sheet (17) which has water impermeability and contacts underwear; an absorbent (18) which is sandwiched between the front surface sheet (16) and the back surface sheet (17) and absorbs urine having passed through the front surface sheet (16); and a guide A (11) and a guide B (12) which allow urine to permeate and are self-standing so as to rise to the front surface sheet (16) side with respect to the absorbent (18) to control flow of urine. The guide A (11) is arranged at an edge portion, and the guide B (12) is arranged so as to extend in a left-right direction.
