An absorbent article comprising: a reusable and washable outer shell comprising one or more front panels and a back panel; and a disposable absorbent insert removably joined to the front and back panels, wherein said insert is interposed between said front panel and said back panel, wherein the front and back panels have a total width W being greater than a width w of said insert along a transverse axis x-x, and wherein said insert comprises a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent material sandwiched between said topsheet and backsheet, wherein the back panel comprises an elastic woven or nonwoven layer and the front and/or back panels comprise one or more fasteners arranged to provide a refastenable closure between said front, back panels and/or garment facing surface of the insert and wherein the insert is joined to the front and back panels at discrete joining areas, wherein said discrete joining areas are less than 20%, of the total surface area of said insert taken from a plane parallel to that formed by the longitudinal axis y-y and transverse axis x-x, and wherein the discrete joining areas have a shape selected from the group consisting of line-form, cross-form, X-shaped, Y-shaped, H-shaped, and T-shaped, square-shaped and combinations thereof, and wherein said insert is biodegradable and/or compostable.

Shaped Nonwoven

A through-air thermally bonded nonwoven fabric is provided. The nonwoven fabric can include a first surface and a second surface and a visually discernible pattern of three-dimensional features on one of the first or second surface. Each of the three-dimensional features can define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions can have a difference in values for an intensive property, wherein at least one of the surfaces has a TS7 value of less than about 15 dB V.sup.2 rms, and wherein the first surface has a TS7 value that is higher than the second surface TS7 value.

Absorbent article

An absorbent article may include a top sheet that is liquid-permeable, a back sheet that is liquid-impermeable, and an absorbent body situated between the top sheet and the back sheet in a thickness direction. At least one of the top sheet and the back sheet may include a synthetic resin sheet that includes a synthetic resin component and an oxidative decomposer comprising a mixture of a carboxylate and a rare earth compound. The synthetic resin sheet may contain the oxidative decomposer in a mass ratio such that a decomposition rate index (D.sub.i), as determined by formula (1), is 7.8 or less:
D.sub.i=B.sub.r×S.sub.a  (1)
where B.sub.r represents a mass ratio (g/g) of the oxidative decomposer with respect to the synthetic resin component, and S.sub.a represents a specific surface area (cm.sup.2/g) of the synthetic resin sheet.

Absorbent structure with stratified distribution layer

An absorbent structure including a distribution layer and a storage layer is disclosed. The distribution layer has two or more stratums. The two or more stratums include a body facing stratum and a subsequent stratum below the body facing stratum. The density of the subsequent stratum is a fraction of the density of the body facing stratum and the porosity of the subsequent stratum is a multiple of the body facing stratum porosity.

Each of the three-dimensional features define a microzone comprising a first region and a second region. The first and second regions have a difference in values for an intensive property, wherein in at least one of the microzones, the first region exhibits a Contact Angle of greater than 90 degrees, as measured by the Contact Angle Test Method, and wherein the second region exhibits a Time to Wick of less than 10 seconds, as measured by the Time to Wick Test Method.

Fine Hollow Fibers Having a High Void Fraction

A hollow fiber that extending along at least a portion of the fiber along a longitudinal axis thereof and is defined by an interior wall is provided. Through selective control over the manner in which it is formed, the present inventors have discovered that the hollow fiber can exhibit a unique combination of a high void fraction and small fiber size that makes it particularly suitable for use in certain applications, such as in nonwoven webs for absorbent articles.
