The absorbent core includes an absorbent fibrous layer, a liquid inlet foam layer, and a carrier layer, in which a transversally central region is arranged in the liquid inlet foam layer. The transversally central region extends along the entire longitudinal length of the absorbent core and includes a plurality of slits arranged in a pattern, wherein the slits are dilated slit openings in a part of the central region within an intermediate portion of the absorbent core, and the slits are non-dilated slits in parts of said central region within one or both of front and rear portions of the absorbent core.

A disposable absorbent article has a central body defining a first waist end region including a first end edge, a second waist end region spaced longitudinally from the first waist end region and including a second end edge, and a crotch region positioned therebetween. An absorbent core is situated between the end edges, and includes a plurality of elastics incorporated therewith such that the core is substantially lat-erally contracted in a narrowed region about the elastics. The absorbent core includes at least one end region that is sub-stantially non-elasticized and has a lateral width substantially wider than that of the narrowed region.

Absorbent product includes a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core enclosed between the topsheet and the backsheet, wherein the absorbent core includes a liquid inlet foam material located closest to the liquid pervious topsheet and an absorbent fibrous layer located closest to the impervious backsheet. The absorbent layer comprises a layer of open-celled foam comprising an arrangement of macro-voids therein. The arrangement of macro-voids defines paths that lie along an x-y planar surface of the layer of open-celled foam and comprise left and right forward path legs disposed predominantly forward of the lateral axis.

The absorbent body has a plurality of slits extending in the transverse direction and expresses an extensibility in the longitudinal direction, when the article is subjected to tensile forces opposite in the longitudinal direction so as to open the slits and the absorbent body is arranged so that at least one of the slits overlaps with the first regions
