SUBSTRATE, ABSORBENT ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR WETNESS MONITORING
A substrate (10) suitable for incorporation into an absorbent article (100) for monitoring and detecting the presence of wetness therein and/or risk of exudate leakage therefrom, is provided. Said substrate (10) comprises a conductive pattern (101) disposed on a first surface (20) capable of being arranged proximal to a body facing side of the absorbent article (100), wherein said conductive pattern (101) can be brought in electrical communication with a clip-on data processing module (103). Said conductive pattern (101) comprises: a plurality of connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′); and a plurality of sensing tracks (9) connected to said connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′), wherein the conductive pattern (101) is configured in a manner that addressing multiple combinations of said plurality of connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′) with corresponding terminals (1,2,3,4,5) of the clip-on data processing module (103) result in multiple electrical circuit configurations for measuring resistance, impedance and/or capacitance therethrough.

A substrate (10) suitable for incorporation into an absorbent article (100) for monitoring and detecting the presence of wetness therein and/or risk of exudate leakage therefrom, is provided. Said substrate (10) comprises a conductive pattern (101) disposed on a first surface (20) capable of being arranged proximal to a body facing side of the absorbent article (100), wherein said conductive pattern (101) can be brought in electrical communication with a clip-on data processing module (103). Said conductive pattern (101) comprises: a plurality of connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′); and a plurality of sensing tracks (9) connected to said connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′), wherein the conductive pattern (101) is configured in a manner that addressing multiple combinations of said plurality of connection tracks (1′,2′,3′,4′,5′) with corresponding terminals (1,2,3,4,5) of the clip-on data processing module (103) result in multiple electrical circuit configurations for measuring resistance, impedance and/or capacitance therethrough.
Disposable Absorbent Article
An absorbent article having a primary topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent system therebetween is described. The primary topsheet has a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface, and the backsheet has a body-facing surface and garment-facing surface. The absorbent system includes a first absorbent core having a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface, and a second absorbent core disposed between the first absorbent core and the backsheet. The primary topsheet and at least a portion of the first absorbent core has one or more embossed channels including a central channel disposed on the body-facing surface of the primary topsheet. Each of the one or more embossed channels has a bottom surface subjacent to the body-facing surface of the primary topsheet and superjacent to the first absorbent core garment-facing surface.
ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH A DISTRIBUTION LAYER COMPRISING CHANNELS
An absorbent article such as a diaper extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to a longitudinal axis (80′) and a transversal direction (90′) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and comprising a distribution layer (54) between a topsheet (24) and an absorbent core (28). The distribution layer comprises a fibrous material and a first and second longitudinally-extending channels (86a,b) substantially free of fibrous material. The fibrous material is profiled in the transversal direction so that average basis weight between the channels differs from the average basis weight in the lateral areas outward of the channels by at least 50 g/m.sup.2 and/or wherein the distribution layer comprises a first region having a first basis weight (bw1) and a second region having a second basis weight (bw2), wherein the first basis weight and the second basis weight differ by at least 20 g/m.sup.2, preferably by at least 50 g/m.sup.2, and these regions are present in different areas of the distribution layer but in the same longitudinally extending transversal section. The absorbent core may comprise channel-forming areas (26a,b). The article further comprises a backsheet (25).
ABSORBENT ARTICLE WITH A DISTRIBUTION LAYER COMPRISING CHANNELS
An absorbent article such as a diaper extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to a longitudinal axis (80′) and a transversal direction (90′) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and comprising a distribution layer (54) between a topsheet (24) and an absorbent core (28). The distribution layer comprises a fibrous material and a first and second longitudinally-extending channels (86a,b) substantially free of fibrous material. The fibrous material is profiled in the transversal direction so that average basis weight between the channels differs from the average basis weight in the lateral areas outward of the channels by at least 50 g/m.sup.2 and/or wherein the distribution layer comprises a first region having a first basis weight (bw1) and a second region having a second basis weight (bw2), wherein the first basis weight and the second basis weight differ by at least 20 g/m.sup.2, preferably by at least 50 g/m.sup.2, and these regions are present in different areas of the distribution layer but in the same longitudinally extending transversal section. The absorbent core may comprise channel-forming areas (26a,b). The article further comprises a backsheet (25).
ABSORBER AND DISPOSABLE DIAPER
A sheet-like absorber including: a channel portion that is formed over an entire length of one sheet face; a first absorption layer that forms another sheet face; and plural second absorption layers that form the one sheet face, wherein, where the first absorption layer and the second absorption layers are each fiber layers formed of heat-fusible fibers and have an absorbent polymer incorporated inside the fiber layers, a content of the absorbent polymer per unit area in the second absorption layers is greater than a content of the absorbent polymer per unit area in the first absorption layer, and a more durable hydrophilicity for maintaining hydrophilicity of the fibers is imparted to fibers that form portions of the second absorption layers on an opposite side from a first absorption layer side than to fibers that form portions of the second absorption layers on the first absorption layer side.

A sheet-like absorber including: a channel portion that is formed over an entire length of one sheet face; a first absorption layer that forms another sheet face; and plural second absorption layers that form the one sheet face, wherein, where the first absorption layer and the second absorption layers are each fiber layers formed of heat-fusible fibers and have an absorbent polymer incorporated inside the fiber layers, a content of the absorbent polymer per unit area in the second absorption layers is greater than a content of the absorbent polymer per unit area in the first absorption layer, and a more durable hydrophilicity for maintaining hydrophilicity of the fibers is imparted to fibers that form portions of the second absorption layers on an opposite side from a first absorption layer side than to fibers that form portions of the second absorption layers on the first absorption layer side.

The present disclosure provides articles having an absorbent core with a plurality of segmented volumes defined by a network of filaments, with an absorbent material therein. Suitable articles which may be formed with this absorbent core include, for example, diapers such as infant diapers, juvenile diapers and training pants, feminine hygiene products such as menstrual pads, adult incontinence products such as adult briefs, protective underwear, pads and bladder control pads, pet training pads, and other disposable products utilized to absorb fluids.

Absorbent cores and methods for forming absorbent cores
Pulpless absorbent cores and methods of manufacture are disclosed. A method of forming an absorbent core may comprise moving a forming surface in a machine direction, creating a pressure differential across the forming surface, advancing a base carrier sheet on the forming surface in the machine direction, applying a first adhesive onto the base carrier sheet, and applying a first quantity of particulate material onto the first adhesive at a first cross-machine direction width. The method may further comprise depositing a matrix of material onto the first quantity of particulate material at a second cross-machine direction width, the matrix of material comprising a second quantity of particulate material and a second adhesive, wherein the second cross-machine direction width is smaller than the first cross-machine direction width, and wherein the second quantity of particulate material and the adhesive are pre-mixed prior to deposition onto the first quantity of particulate material.
