The tab is sized to cooperate with the groove, so that the stem is pulled into the bore as the stem is rotated until passing the protrusion, whereby the stem is locked into position in the bore.

The end cap is constructed to have outer dimensions greater than the dimensions of the first orifice and the second orifice to prevent the first end and a second end from disengaging the adjuster.
