Expandable scaffolding with a rigid, central beam
An intervertebral scaffolding system is provided having a rigid central beam and a laterovertically-expanding frame operable for a reversible collapse from an expanded state into a collapsed state.
HYDROGEL IMPLANTS WITH POROUS MATERIALS AND METHODS
An implant system includes a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The first portion includes a hydrogel; the second portion includes a porous material and the hydrogel in pores of the porous material; and the third portion includes the porous material. The first portion is free of the porous material and the third portion is free of the hydrogel. The third portion has non-uniform lateral cross-section.
BONE GRAFT DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING SAME
A bone graft delivery system and method for using same to deliver graft material into a surgical site. The method includes the steps of providing a hollow tube configured to receive the graft material, releasably attaching an implant to a distal end of the hollow tube so as to communicate with at least one opening in the distal end of the hollow tube, the implant being configured to receive the graft material delivered through the hollow tube; placing the implant within the surgical site; advancing the graft material through the hollow tube; conveying graft material through the hollow tube into an interior of the implant, whereby the implant is at least substantially filled with the graft material; and discharging the graft material through at least one opening in the implant into the surgical site, whereby the surgical site is at least substantially filled with the graft material.
Method of expanding a space between opposing tissue surfaces
An expandable device for expanding and supporting body tissue comprises an inferior endplate having an outer surface configured to contact one body tissue surface and a superior endplate having an outer surface configured to contact an opposing body tissue surface. The inferior endplate and the superior endplate are movable relative to each other in a direction of expansion. The device includes an elevator captively supported between the inferior endplate and the superior endplate for independent movement along the direction of expansion. In the first direction the elevator is moved toward said superior endplate to lift the superior endplate and expand the device. In the second direction the elevator moves away from said superior endplate toward said inferior endplate to create a space for insertion of an insert into the expanded device.
SACROILIAC JOINT FUSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A sacroiliac joint implant is formed from a web structure having a space truss with two or more planar truss units having a plurality of struts joined at nodes. The web structure is configured for fusion of a sacroiliac joint.
Implants for Altering Wear Patterns of Articular Surfaces
Methods and devices for correcting wear pattern defects in joints. The methods and devices described herein allow for the restoration of correcting abnormal biomechanical loading conditions in a joint brought on by wear pattern defects, and also can, in embodiments, permit correction of proper kinematic movement.
Hydrogel implants with porous materials and methods
An implant system includes a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The first portion includes a hydrogel. The second portion includes a porous material and the hydrogel in pores of the porous material. The third portion includes the porous material. The first portion is free of the porous material. The third portion is free of the hydrogel. Methods of making and using the implant system.
SIDE POCKET SPINAL FUSION CAGE
A spinal implant is provided including an upper surface, a lower surface, a front surface and a back surface, two side surfaces extending between the upper surface and the lower surface, the two side surfaces extending between the front surface and the back surface and an opening positioned closer to the back surface than the front surface. The opening is provided to contain graft material that spans between a cortical rim of the upper vertebral body and the cortical rim of the lower vertebral body. The method includes packing the opening with graft material, wherein the graft, material spans between the decorticated cortical rim of the upper vertebral body and the decorticated cortical rim of the lower vertebral body.
Nubbed plate
A separate nub component between the plate and an intervertebral fusion cage, wherein the nub is attached to the plate. The nub lessens the undesired pivotal movement of the plate. It is believed that when the nub fits snugly between the endplates of the adjacent vertebral bodies, it acts as a stop against the undesired pivotal movement of the plate.
Bone graft delivery system and method for using same
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for near-simultaneous and integrated delivery of bone graft material during the placement of surgical cages or other medical implants in a patient's spine. The integrated fusion cage and graft delivery device according to various embodiments delivers and disperses biologic material through a fusion cage to a disc space and, without withdrawal from the surgical site, may selectively detach the fusion cage for deposit to the same disc space. The integrated fusion cage and graft delivery device is formed such that a hollow tube and plunger selectively and controllably place bone graft material and a fusion cage in or adjacent to the bone graft receiving area. In one embodiment, the integrated fusion cage is an expandable integrated fusion cage.
