Nubbed plate

A separate nub component between the plate and an intervertebral fusion cage, wherein the nub is attached to the plate. The nub lessens the undesired pivotal movement of the plate. It is believed that when the nub fits snugly between the endplates of the adjacent vertebral bodies, it acts as a stop against the undesired pivotal movement of the plate.

Artificial femoral ball head with multi-layer shell core composite structure
10327903 · 2019-06-25 ·

An artificial femoral ball head having a multilayer shell-core composite structure includes a spherical shell layer, a transition layer and an inner core. The inner core is made of a toughened ceramic, the spherical shell layer is made of a ceramic material, and the transition layer is made of a composite material comprising materials of the inner core and the spherical shell layer. The artificial femoral ball head is manufactured through sintering a green body of successively stacked layers of the spherical shell layer, the transition layer and the inner core, and the green body of successively stacked layers is obtained through a powder co-injection molding process. The spherical shell layer of the artificial femoral head has a high rigidness, corrosion-proof and wear-proof performance. The inner core of the artificial femoral head has a high toughness and shockresistant performance.

Inserter for expanding an expandable device
10314722 · 2019-06-11 · ·

An expandable device for expanding and supporting body tissue comprises an inferior endplate having an outer surface configured to contact one body tissue surface and a superior endplate having an outer surface configured to contact an opposing body tissue surface. The inferior endplate and the superior endplate are movable relative to each other in a direction of expansion. The device includes an elevator captively supported between the inferior endplate and the superior endplate for independent movement along the direction of expansion. In the first direction the elevator is moved toward said superior endplate to lift the superior endplate and expand the device. In the second direction the elevator moves away from said superior endplate toward said inferior endplate to create a space for insertion of an insert into the expanded device.

Knee replacement system and method for enabling natural knee movement

A knee replacement system, and a method for supplying and implanting a knee replacement system, for enabling natural knee movement in a leg in a patient, including: a medial femoral component having a medial femoral articulating surface with a sagittal plane profile including four medial femoral arcuate portions scaled by a first femoral scaling factor; a lateral femoral component having a lateral femoral articulating surface with a sagittal plane profile including four lateral femoral arcuate portions scaled by a second femoral scaling factor; a medial tibial component having a medial tibial articulating surface that articulates with the medial femoral articulating surface and includes a first raised medial edge that increases in width in an anterior direction; and a lateral tibial component having a lateral tibial articulating surface that articulates with the lateral femoral articulating surface and includes a second raised medial edge that increases in width in the anterior direction.

THREADED COMPOSITE INTERBODY DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED MANUFACTURING METHOD

The present invention relates to an implant comprising an implant body having a first surface area configured for contact with soft connective tissue and a second surface area configured for contact with bone tissue, wherein the first surface area is covered with a coating comprising tantalum and the second surface area is formed by a material, which is different than the one forming the coating.

SPINAL FUSION CAGE SYSTEM WITH INSERTER
20190142604 · 2019-05-16 ·

The present disclosure relates to a spinal fusion impactor tool that includes an attachment means for securing an implant device to the distal end of the tool, a means for adjusting the angle of the distal head relative to the handle to better position the implant for introduction into the implant site, means for remotely releasing the implant device at the distal end and a clamp device on the shaft of the tool to secure tabs, attachments and other devices. The impactor tool is preferably used in conjunction with implantation of an intervertebral fusion cage that is equipped with shims having tabs or other removing means, but may also be used to introduce, for example, an implant, graft, fusion device, wedge or distractor device into any joint space or bony region in preparation for implantation.

ACL accommodating tibial design

Surgical methods and tibial implants for accommodating the anterior cruciate ligament during unicompartmental or bi-unicompartmental knee arthroplasty procedures.

Surgical implant
10245152 · 2019-04-02 · ·

The present invention is directed to a surgical implant for the fusion of two adjacent vertebrae with an upper plane for contacting an upper vertebral body and a lower plane for contacting a lower vertebral body and a tubular structure, wherein the tubular structure is formed by a plurality of tubes running from the upper plane to the lower plane and in substantially horizontal direction throughout one side of the surgical implant straight to the opposite side of the surgical implant. This tubular structure has the advantage that the formation and ingrowth of new bone is promoted and advantaged and that the degree of formation and ingrowth of new bone is detectable by X-ray measurements.

Femoral component for a knee prosthesis with improved articular characteristics

An orthopaedic knee prosthesis includes a femoral component which exhibits enhanced articular features, minimizes removal of healthy bone stock from the distal femur, and minimizes the impact of the prosthesis on adjacent soft tissues of the knee.
