A transport chair of this disclosure includes a frame having a pair of fixed sides and hinged sides, the frame moveable between stowed and deployed states. The frame includes wheel receiving means and armrest and push handle assemblies receiving means with quick connect-disconnect clamps or pins. A bar, which is connectable to, and detachable from, each hinge extends between the pair of hinged sides. When connected to the hinged sides, the bar locks the frame in the deployed state and prevents the frame from moving to the stowed state. The chair may be quickly assembled and then dissembled for storage without the need for tools. When dissembled, the transport chair fits within an envelope 9 inches deep×14 inches wide×22 inches long.

There is described a wheelchair comprising a wheelchair frame, a pair of drive wheels configured to contact a ground surface when the wheelchair is in use, each drive wheel rotating about an axis of rotation, at least one front wheel mounted to a front-end portion of the wheelchair frame, and an anti-tip assembly mounted to a rear-end portion of the wheelchair frame, which anti-tip assembly includes at least one pivot arm that is supported onto the rear-end portion of the wheelchair frame so as to be pivotable with respect to the wheelchair frame about a pivot axis. The pivot arm includes a drive wheel attachment point coinciding with the axis of rotation and providing attachment of at least one of the drive wheels and a wheelchair frame attachment point coinciding with the pivot axis and providing attachment of the pivot arm to the rear-end portion of the wheelchair frame. The anti-tip assembly further comprises a rear wheel that is provided at a distal end of the pivot arm, rearward of the drive wheels, and that is configured to contact the ground surface when the wheelchair is in use. The anti-tip assembly is configured to allow the wheelchair frame to tilt backwards into a predetermined stable titled position with the at least one front wheel in a raised position above the ground surface, while the drive wheels and the rear wheel remain in contact with the ground surface. In one embodiment, the pivot arm is attached, via the wheelchair frame attachment point, to a bracket of the wheelchair frame, which bracket is provided with an arcuate opening configured to allow passage of a drive wheel axis of the drive wheel, which drive wheel axis is coupled to the pivot arm, via the drive wheel attachment point, the arcuate opening defining a predetermined range of pivoting movement of the pivot arm with respect to the wheelchair frame.

Wheelchair with two independent driving arms fixed to the frame by pivot bearings at a low position. The driving arms extend to a sufficient height for the user to hold their upper portions and to move them in forward-backward directions around the pivotal bearings. Ropes are connected to the lower sections of the driving arms. Two large wheels have wheel hubs equipped with freewheel, and each wheel hub have a rope drums attached with a spring bias, and a winding made of rope. Pulling a the rope in forward direction results in turning the wheel hub in forward direction, and when the rope drum (31, 31′) is turned in the other direction the freewheel releases the connection towards the large wheel. The wheel hub comprises a release mechanism that releases the freewheel when the large wheel is moved in backward direction and backward movement gets allowed.

WHEELCHAIR

The wheelchair includes a seating portion, body frames that support the seating portion, wheels that are rotatably supported by the body frames, an engaging portion, a left brake that brakes a left rear wheel, and a coupling portion that couples the engaging portion and the left brake to each other. The engaging portion is capable of switching between an engagement attitude for engaging a vehicle body member that forms an opening of a vehicle and a disengagement attitude for releasing the engagement with the vehicle body member. The coupling portion transmits the movement of the engaging portion to the left brake when the engaging portion makes an attitude change from the disengagement attitude to the engagement attitude. This operates the left brake when the attitude of the engaging portion switches from the disengagement attitude to the engagement attitude and brakes the left rear wheel.
