The present invention relates to a bed frame of a canopy style construction typically found in a home setting integrating assistive components therein, exemplary assistive components optionally including one or more of a trapeze device, a balance pole and an assist rail, and also wherein there is an option that the assistive components to be selectably concealed. The frame has four corner posts, two longitudinal rails and two lateral rails. A cross-brace and two longitudinal braces are provided for supporting a trapeze assembly. An integrated night stand having an integrated assist rail that moves from a storage position to a deployed position is provided. An integrated balance pole with a top piece and bottom piece, and a base, is provided. Structures can be provided for concealing the assistive components when they are not in use.

The lift is configured to change the elevation of the patient support portion relative to the base portion. The motor is mounted such that the elevation of the motor is fixed relative to base portion. The trolley system is positionable adjacent an MRI apparatus within the MRI environment and the magnetic field of the MRI does not interfere with the operation of the motor or blower. The trolley system may further include a patient transfer device having an air bearing. The blower is configured to deliver air to the air bearing.

The proposed invention relates to a connecting element (1) for a medical bedrail, such as used in medical transport gurneys, stretchers, hospital beds and the like. The connecting element (1) connects a connecting rod (2) and a pivotable rod (3) of a foldable bedrail for medical beds and comprises a jaw (4), the inner surface (5) of the jaw (4) being concave in shape and adapted for abutting tightly against the outer surface of the connecting rod (2), two locking teeth (6) fashioned symmetrically on or at the upper edge of the inner surface (5) of the jaw (4), each on one side of the jaw (4), respectively, and two legs (7) fashioned on the upper part of the outer side of the jaw (4) and arranged symmetrically with respect to a central plane (R) extending vertically and longitudinally through the center of the jaw (4), the legs (7) extending downwards, each of the legs (7) comprising a snap-fit element (8) fashioned on the inner surface of the leg (7) facing the inner surface of the other leg (7), the snap-fit elements (8) being arranged symmetrically with respect to the central plane (R) and co-operating with two snap-fit elements (8) fashioned in the pivotable rod (3). A patient support apparatus comprises a support structure. The support structure comprises a base and a patient support deck coupled to the base. The patient support deck comprises a patient support surface capable of articulating to adjust positioning of a patient supported thereon, a lift system configured to adjust a height of the patient support deck relative to the base, and a user interface system coupled to the support structure and comprising an elongated member and a user interface coupled to the elongated member. The user interface is configured to receive inputs from a user to control a function of the patient support apparatus.
