Mattress cover sensor method

A patient support apparatus includes a cushion, a cover arranged over a top side of the cushion, and a sensor unit. The sensor unit is coupled to the cover and arranged to underlie a patient supported on the cover. The sensor unit includes a sensor configured to detect conditions near the interface of a patient's skin with the cover.

Rotary plate valve having seal anti-herniation structure

A mattress overlay apparatus is provided for use with a mattress. The mattress overlay apparatus includes an overlay configured for placement atop the mattress and having a plurality of inflatable bladders, a blower, and first and second rotary plate valves pneumatically coupled to the plurality of bladders and the blower. The first and second rotary plate valves are arranged in series between the plurality of bladders and the blower. The first and second rotary plate valves and the blower are operated to provide the overlay with percussion and vibration (P&V), left and right turn assist, and microclimate management (MCM) functionality.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING A POSITION MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL BASED ON DETECTED INCLINATION ANGLE OF A PERSON

A system for monitoring medical conditions including pressure ulcers, pressure-induced ischemia and related medical conditions comprises at least one sensor adapted to detect one or more patient characteristic including at least position, orientation, temperature, acceleration, moisture, resistance, stress, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood oxygenation, a host for processing the data received from the sensors together with historical patient data to develop an assessment of patient condition and suggested course of treatment, including either suspending or adjusting turn schedule based on various types of patient movement. Compliance with Head-of-Bed protocols can also be performed based on actual patient position instead of being inferred from bed elevation angle. The sensor can include bi-axial or tri-axial accelerometers, as well as resistive, inductive, capacitive, magnetic and other sensing devices, depending on whether the sensor is located on the patient or the support surface, and for what purpose.

A patient support is provided. The patient support may include a plurality of inflatable members. The plurality of inflatable members may include a core including a resilient material. The patient support may be controlled with a first controller positioned within an envelope of the patient support. The patient support may include a detector to detect when an external controller is coupled to the patient support, the patient support being controlled by the second controller when the second controller is present.

Pressure modulating soft actuator array devices and related systems and methods

Pressure modulating soft actuator array devices and related systems and methods. One example of the present systems comprises: a device having a body that defines a plurality of cavities; a pressure source configured to be in fluid communication with the plurality of cavities; a plurality of sensors configured to capture data indicative of pressure within the plurality of cavities; and one or more controllers configured to actuate the pressure source to move fluid toward and/or away from one or more of the plurality of cavities in response to data captured by the plurality of sensors; wherein the device is configured to be disposed between a user and a surface on which the user is seated upon.

AIR POCKET-TYPE MASSAGE DEVICE

The present invention relates to an air pocket-type massage device comprising: a bed unit (100) which is for supporting parts of the body of a user; a massage module (200) which is disposed on the bed unit (100) and comprises a plurality of air pockets; and a position adjusting means (300) which is provided on the bed unit (100) and enables changing of the position of the massage module (200). Therefore, the present invention provides an air pocket-type massage device which, when massaging particularly the calves among parts of the body of a user, can flexibly respond to changes in the user's height by means of changing the position of a massage module by means of a position adjusting means and on the basis of the changes in the user's height.

System and method for patient turning and repositioning with simultaneous off-loading of the bony prominences

The present invention relates to a system and method for sacral and trochanteric support and off-loading. The system provides a ultra low pressure plenum and a positioner. The patient body size and size and corresponding surface area of the positioner control the amount of gas which is displaced evenly against the walls of the ultra low pressure plenum to allow the combination of the ultra low pressure plenum and the positioner to slightly lift a patient from a bed surface, thereby offloading the sacrum and trochanter. The positioner can be an ultra low pressure bladder.

BEDS AND OTHER BODY SUPPORT DEVICES WITH INDIVIDUALLY CONTROLLABLE CELLS COMPRISING ONE OR MORE AIR BLADDERS

Devices, systems, and methods for supporting the body of user are described. Devices, systems, and methods can employ a plurality of cells where each of the cells within the plurality of cells can comprise a bladder containing air or another compressible fluid supported by a base that forms a fluid-tight seal with the bladder The base and bladder can be constructed and arranged so that the bladder forms a rolling diaphragm portion with the base. The height and/or applied pressure in response to an applied load of such bladder may be adjustable substantially independent of the crosssectional shape and dimensions of the bladder. Each of the cells within the plurality of cells which may be a subset or all of the cells of a given support, can also comprise, or otherwise be operatively associated with its own: pressure sensor, height sensor, or both, and/or controllable inlet/outlet valve(s).

Patient support systems and methods of use

The present disclosure relates to patient support systems, such as hospital beds, and particularly to reconfigurable patient support systems movable among a number of different positions. The present disclosure further relates to control algorithms and interfaces for use in patient support systems.

Support apparatus, system and method

A therapeutic support device includes a bladder having one or more independently inflatable compartments, each including a plurality of inflatable cells. When inflated, each inflatable cell forms a contact node that may support a user or another object disposed thereon. The inflatable compartments can be alternately inflated and deflated such that contact pressure can be applied to and relieved from corresponding portions of the user's body in an alternating manner.
