Patient positioning apparatus and method
11179578 · 2021-11-23 · ·

A patient positioning method constituted of: rotating a pelvis support member about a first axis; rotating the pelvis support member about a second axis, between a first position where the pelvis of a patient is supported by a first face of the pelvis support member and a second position where the pelvis of the patient is supported by a second face of the pelvis support member, the rotation being at least 180 degrees about the second rotation axis; and adjusting an angle between the pelvis support member and a torso support member between a first angle where the torso support member supports the torso of the patient when the pelvis is supported by the first face of the pelvis support member and a second angle where the torso support member supports the torso of the patient when the pelvis is supported by the second face of the pelvis support member.

SURGICAL PATIENT SUPPORT FOR LATERAL-TO-PRONE PATIENT POSITIONING

According to the present disclosure, a surgical patient support provides support to a patient. The surgical patient support may include configuration to accommodate various patient body positions to provide a variety of access to the patient's body.

Inflatable positioning equipment in the shape of an elongate roll for positioning a patient during a renal surgical procedure is provided. The positioning equipment includes: an inflatable covering which defines the external dimensions of the positioning equipment; a first air chamber system on the inside of the covering, which can be filled with air for inflating the covering; and a second air chamber system on the inside of the covering, which can be filled with air to inflate the covering. The second air chamber system is fluidically separated from the first air chamber system such that a leak in one air chamber system does not result in air loss in the other air chamber system.

RECONFIGURABLE UPPER LEG SUPPORT FOR A SURGICAL FRAME

A surgical frame and method for use thereof is provided. The surgical frame is capable of reconfiguration before, during, or after surgery. The surgical frame includes a main beam that can be rotated, raised/lowered, and tilted upwardly/downwardly to afford positioning and repositioning of a patient supported thereon. The surgical frame also includes a reconfigurable upper leg support for supporting portions of the upper legs, the hips, and the lower back of the patient to facilitate positioning and repositioning there during surgery. The upper leg support via reconfiguration thereof can accommodate patients of different sizes, can provide flexure of the patient's lumbar spine to facilitate surgical access thereto, and can prevent unwanted torsion of a patient's spine during such reconfiguration.

Groin protection apparatus, systems and methods

Disclosed herein are apparatus, systems and methods for protecting a patient's groin area and better redistributing forces while distracting the patient's hip. These generally involve anatomically correct protective pad and/or a winged protective cup which be used in conjunction with one another or independently. The anatomically correct protective pad may include a groin-facing portion including a recess for housing/protecting a patient's genital region. The pad may further include opposing thigh-facing portions configured to align with the inner thighs of the and better distribute forces (e.g., distraction forces) away from the groin region and longitudinally across a surface area of the inner thighs. The winged protective cup may include a saddle or winged configuration including opposing wings extending from a cup portion and also configured to distribute forces away from the groin region and longitudinally across a surface area of the inner thighs.

Surgical table with movement capabilities of lower body support structures

A surgical table for prone and lateral positioning of a patient, where the table includes a base and a patient support structure. The base may include a head and a foot end support structure. The patient support structure may include an upper body support structure cantilevered off of the head end support structure at a first end and a lower body support structure cantilevered off of the foot end support structure at a second end. The upper body support structure may include a chest pad. The lower body support structure may include a lower body translation and rotation structure and at least one pelvic pad supported thereon.

SURGICAL FRAME HAVING TRANSLATING LOWER BEAM AND MOVEABLE LINKAGE OR SURGICAL EQUIPMENT ATTACHED THERETO AND METHOD FOR USE THEREOF

A surgical frame and method for use thereof is provided. The surgical frame is capable of reconfiguration before, during, or after surgery using a moveable main beam supporting a patient thereon. The surgical frame includes a translating lower beam that is moveable between at least a first lateral position and a second lateral position, and a linkage and/or surgical equipment supportively and moveably attached to the translating lower beam or interconnected with the translating lower beam via the linkage. The linkage and/or the surgical equipment are moveable between a first position at or adjacent a first end of the translating lower beam and a second position at or adjacent a second end of the translating lower beam. The translating lower beam is used to join a first support portion and a second support portion of the surgical frame to one another, and movement of the translating lower beam affords access to a patient receiving area. A linear movement mechanism can be used to facilitate movement of the linkage and/or the surgical equipment along the translating lower beam to avoid interference with the main beam or the translating lower beam.

SYSTEMS AND DEVICES FOR PROVIDING LIFT ASSISTANCE FOR A SURGICAL PROCEDURE

Systems and devices oriented in a compact manner provide lift assistance to a spar of a surgery table for hip, leg-related surgeries, or generally lower limb related orthopedic procedures. The compact device does not impede the radiolucency of the spar below the patient's hip, trochanter, or femur.

Patient positioning system

A patient support system may include a pelvic bolster assembly and a thoracic bolster assembly. Each of the assemblies may be attached to a conventional surgical table frame by the surgical table frame's longitudinal rails. A plurality of adjustment mechanisms and components are provided to allow for easy and safe manipulation of a patient before and during surgery.
