CIRCULAR FIXATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD
A device comprises a base. A support is attached to the base. The support is shaped to receive a calf of a person and adapted to receive a wire or pin for securing a tibia of a person. A foot plate is attachable to the base. The foot plate has a plurality of attached members. The members are configured for receiving at least a first wire or pin to fix a foot of the person relative to the foot plate while the foot plate is oriented normal to a superior-inferior direction of the foot. The foot plate is rotatable relative to the base while the foot plate is attached to the base.
ANATOMICAL GRIPPING SYSTEM FOR GRIPPING THE LEG AND FOOT OF A PATIENT WHEN EFFECTING HIP DISTRACTION AND/OR WHEN EFFECTING LEG POSITIONING
An anatomical gripping system comprising: a binding comprising: a substantially rigid spine; a calf shell mounted to the substantially rigid spine; an anterior shell; and a clamping mechanism connecting the anterior shell to the calf shell; wherein the calf shell comprises a flexible portion configured to selectively engage the superior portion of the calcaneus bone of a patient; and further wherein when the clamping mechanism applies a force to the flexible portion of the calf shell, the flexible portion of the calf shell is drawn into engagement with the superior portion of the calcaneus bone of the patient.
SURGICAL TRACTION BOOT HAVING RESILIENT HEEL PAD AND MEDIAL AND LATERAL STRAPS
A surgical boot apparatus for use in surgery involving hip distraction includes a boot shell having a sole portion configured for placement adjacent a sole of a foot of a patient and a calf portion configured for placement adjacent a calf of the patient. The boot shell has a heel-receiving opening located between the sole portion and the calf portion and configured for receipt of a heel of the patient. A resilient pad is provided having a main portion configured for engaging an Achilles area of the patient. The main portion includes an end region that extends into the heel-receiving opening. The end region has an end edge that includes a notch configured for receipt of a calcaneus of the patient.
Patient positioning device
Various embodiments, aspects and features of the present solution encompass a manually adjustable patient positioning device that is configured to reside on an operating table and outside the sterile field of a surgical environment. A carriage assembly rides along a pair of parallel guide rails and supports a cushioning device. A patient's foot, for example, may be placed on the cushioning device such that repositioning of the carriage assembly along the guide rails causes manipulation of the position and degree of articulation for the patient's knee during an orthopedic surgery.
Systems and methods for maintaining patient position
Some systems, devices and methods detailed herein provide adjustable restraint device maintaining a selected position of a person relative to a support structure, for example, to maintain a safe and customizable patient position during a surgical procedure or during medical transport. For example, in particular embodiments, the adjustable restraint devices can be releasably lockable at a customized position along the surgical table and can be conveniently manipulated to a curved or other customized configuration (e.g., to engage with a patient's limb) before being releasably locked into that particular customized configuration.
Method and Apparatus for Securing a Patient's Limb
A limb support apparatus and corresponding methods for making same are disclosed. The limb support can comprise a shell for supporting a patient's limb during treatment, examination, and/or recovery. The shell can comprise at least one padding configured to protect the patient's limb. The padding can be secured to the shell using one or more mounting structures included in the padding. The mounting structures are configured such that they are received by corresponding mounting openings and/or features in the shell. An interference fit between the mounting structures and mounting openings/features secures the padding against the shell, thereby preventing the padding from inadvertently moving or sliding on the shell. Embodiments disclosed herein eliminate the need for traditionally used fasteners that are often difficult to clean and sterilize, thereby improving the quality of patient care and facilitating cleaning of patient and/or operating rooms.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ACTIVATING MANUAL MANIPULATION USING LINKAGE INTERACTION SENSING
Robotic medical systems capable of manual manipulation are described. A robotic medical system can include a robotic arm and a sensor architecture. The sensor architecture can include one or more non-joint based sensors that are positioned to detect a first force exerted on the robotic arm. The robotic medical system can be configured to determine whether sensor data received from the sensor architecture meets first criteria. For example, the first criteria can be met in accordance with a determination that the first force exceeds a first threshold force. The robotic medical system can be configured to, in accordance with a determination that the first criteria are met, transition the robotic arm from a position control mode to a manual manipulation mode.
Method and apparatus for supporting and stabilizing a patient during hip distraction
A stabilizing pad configured for positioning on a surgical table onto which a patient is placed for a surgical procedure, the stabilizing pad comprising: a high friction top surface; and a high friction bottom surface; wherein the stabilizing pad comprises foam.
SOFT TISSUE BALANCING IN ARTICULAR SURGERY
Systems and methods may be used to perform robot-aided surgery. A system may include a robotic controller to monitor a position and orientation of an end effector coupled to an end of a robotic arm. The robotic controller may apply a force to a bone using the end effector, such as via a soft tissue balancing component. The robotic controller may determine soft tissue balance using information from a tracking system, such as a position of a first tracker affixed to the bone. The soft tissue balance may be output, such as to a display device.
CUSHIONED SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR HEEL ULCER PREVENTION
A cushioned support device includes a pad for supporting a portion of a patient's leg, a securing system coupled to the pad and configured to secure the portion of the patient's leg to the pad, and a connecting member coupled to the pad and configured to couple the cushioned support device to a second cushioned support device.
