METHOD OF SECURING A PATIENT ONTO AN OPERATING TABLE WHEN THE PATIENT IS IN THE TRENDELENBURG POSITION AND APPARATUS THEREFOR INCLUDING A KIT
20170135844 · 2017-05-18 ·

A method of securing a patient onto an operating table when the patient is in the Trendelenburg position and apparatus therefor including a kit. A viscoelastic pad is used to support and hold a patient on a medical procedure table during a medical procedure performed while the table, and thus the patient lying thereon, is in an inclined position, such as the Trendelenburg position. The viscoelastic pad has characteristics which promote a minimization of pressure forces on the patient's body, as well as promote a secure cushioning and holding of the patient in a desired position on the table, in order to minimize injury to the patient.

PERSON SUPPORT SYSTEMS WITH COOLING FEATURES

Embodiments provide a person support system including support pads having cooling features. According to one embodiment, a person support system may include a longitudinal frame comprising at least one side rail. A support pad may be positioned on the longitudinal frame. The support pad may comprise a thermally conductive core portion comprising a support matrix and at least one thermally conductive element. A cooling source may be thermally coupled to the thermally conductive core portion through the side rail with a connector comprising thermally conductive fibers. The cooling source may draw heat from the thermally conductive core portion through the at least one thermally conductive element and the thermally conductive fibers of the connector thereby cooling at least the thermally conductive core portion of the support pad.

INFLATABLE MEDICAL APPARATUS
20170112701 · 2017-04-27 · ·

A medical apparatus for extending the neck of a patient without manually lifting the patient. This apparatus has a gel pad assembly encapsulating an inflatable bag connected to two hoses for inflation and deflation purposes. The inflatable bag is positioned beneath the shoulders, thereby lifting the shoulders and hence extending the neck when the inflatable bag is inflated.

Head cap

The invention relates to a head cap, for placement of a head of a person. The head cap comprises a support shell with an inner face facing the head and an outer face facing away from the head and a cover shell with an inner face facing the head and a outer face facing away from the head, wherein at least the inner face of the support shell is optionally at least along an outer edge of the inner face, preferably over the entire surface, cushioned with a cushion layer and is covered by a flexible cover layer which encloses the inner face and extends up to the outer face of the support shell at least in a peripheral support shell edge region, wherein at least one cover layer edge is covered by the cover shell.

ASSEMBLY AND SYSTEM FOR DISTRACTOR AND/OR POSITIONER

A sterile pressure pad assembly system, kit and method uses a cage assembly comprising an enclosure and a pad assembly configured as a generally rectangular pad disposed adjacent the patient's limb near the joint to be extended and/or distended. The pad may be affixed by adhesive to the outer surface of an arcuate side and formed from suitable foam and cell structure materials that can be sterilized such as, for example, polyurethane-based foam. The enclosure of the cage assembly is configured with one or more ridges to sufficiently optimize a material strength to the arcuate side of the enclosure so as to not crush under pressure from the surgical distractor unit and/or the weight of the patient's limb of the patient when the sterile cage assembly and pad support a limb of a patient on a support bar as a surgical distractor unit positions the pad in abutment with a popliteal area of a patient's knee joint during a medical procedure.

Non-Invasive Head Stabilization System
20170014201 · 2017-01-19 ·

A head fixation device and method of stabilizing a head of a patient includes a base, one or more clamp members, and an actuator connected with each of the one or more clamp members. The base supports the head of the patient resting thereon. The one or more clamp members extend from the base and each selectively move from an adjustable position to a fixed position in response to movement of the actuators. The one or more clamp members provide the ability to conform to the contour of the patient's head to provide an area of contact for stabilization. The one or more clamp members also provide the ability to provide a point of contact for stabilization with an attached tip on each of the one or more clamp members.

PATIENT POSITIONING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A method of preparing a patient positioning system for reuse includes obtaining a used inflatable device, the used inflatable device comprising at least one connection mechanism for coupling to a high-friction pad. The method also includes performing a replacement of an original high-friction pad that was used with the used inflatable device.

Head stabilization system and method with arc features

Exemplary head stabilization devices or head fixation devices (HFDs) include a positioning assembly with a curved elongated portion extending generally concentrically relative to a head of a patient when supported by the HFD. The HFD is adjustably connectable with the positioning assembly and moveable relative to the positioning assembly along an arc length of the curved elongated portion. This adjustment changes a position of the HFD relative to the head of the patient with the HFD moving generally concentrically about the head of the patient.

Pressure monitoring post used for anterior hip arthroplasty and arthroscopy

The present invention provides an apparatus for sensing the pressure on the body of a patient on an anterior hip table or a standard surgical table. The pressure monitoring post provides a warning indicator when the pressure exceeds a predetermined value that is related to pressure related injuries. The pressure monitoring post may also provide for a center and two lateral pressure sensors to detect the pressure resulting on a patient's body during various processes related to hip distraction for arthroscopy and arthroplasty procedures.
