Surgical patient positioner apparatus, system and method

A modular surgical patient positioner unit apparatus, system and method for adjustably positioning human joints such as knees for surgical operating procedures having a base plate to support moveably a transformable carriage that can be releasably locked in position and which adjustably supports a boot or other limb holder which can be releasably locked in position by the carriage. The base plate also is configured with a side bar located at a mid-portion of the base plate to secure to an arc clamp configured to secure the positioning system to a side rail of an operating table in a medical procedure on the left or right side of the body. An extension unit also is provided and configured to secure to a lower surface of the base plate to extend the base plate of the system, as needed, for larger limbs of patients, which extension unit is configured with a stud and post locking portions for securing to the base plate and for positioning in a medical procedure on either side of the body.

A pair of pads is held against the remus of a patient's jaw, to prevent the jaw from slipping back and causing an airway obstruction, while the patient's neck is hyperextended to also cause the patient's airway to stay open. A device including the adjustable jaw pads as well as a triangularly shaped portion over which the patient's neck rests is not required to be attached to the surface on which the patient is lying, and permits the patient to be rolled on either side while still maintaining the patency of the patient's airway.

ACTIVE COMPRESSION DECOMPRESSION AND UPPER BODY ELEVATION SYSTEM

An elevation device used in the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and after resuscitation includes a base and an upper support operably coupled to the base. The upper support is configured to elevate an individual's upper back, shoulders and head. The elevation device also includes a chest compression device coupled with the base. The chest compression device is configured to compress the chest and to actively decompress the chest.

LOW PROFILE DUAL PAD MAGNETIC FIELD LOCATION SYSTEM WITH SELF TRACKING

A magnetic field pad location system is provided with dual elongated field generation pads with self-tracking. Each pad comprises magnetic coils operable to generate magnetic fields. The pads include a mechanism for securing the two pads in place on a patient table to prevent movement of the pads. A processor executes a process for installation of the two pads, comprising correlation of the magnetic fields generated by the coils to define a reference magnetic field for sensing. In one embodiment, each pad includes a same number of magnetic coils in each spatial direction. In one embodiment, the magnetic coils are tri-axial coils placed at corners of the pads. In another embodiment, each pad includes an array of six single coils.

Provided herein is a system for supporting an appendage of a patient, such as a foot or leg, in a desirable position to allow for a comprehensive scan of the appendage. The system includes a leg support assembly arranged to support the leg of a patient when using the system. The leg support assembly comprises a ground engagement assembly, a telescoping tube assembly, and a leg engagement member. The telescoping tube assembly is secured on a first end to the ground engagement assembly and the secured on a second and opposite end of the telescoping tube assembly. The ground engagement assembly is arranged to engage with a support surface to form a stable base for the leg support assembly. The telescoping tube assembly is arranged to adjust the height of the leg support assembly. The leg engagement member includes contours that accommodate the underside of a patient's knee.

Bridge device for a patient positioning system

A bridge assembly is described for use with a patient positioning system including a patient support panel. The panel includes a pair of side rails extending along a central longitudinal axis of the panel. The bridge assembly is configured to be releasably secured via respective clamps at any position along the side rails and includes a pair of side sections and a central section connected between the side sections. The length of each side sections can be adjusted independently to enable the distance of the central section at each of the side sections from the patient support panel to be individually established. The central section can also be adjusted laterally with respect to the central longitudinal axis of the patient support panel.
