Light converter assemblies with enhanced heat dissipation
The present disclosure is directed to light converter assemblies with enhanced heat dissipation. A light converter assembly may comprise a confinement material applied to at least a first substrate and a phosphor material also deposited on the first substrate so as to be surrounded by the confinement material. The first substrate may be hermetically sealed to a second substrate using the confinement material so that the phosphor material is confined between the substrates and protected from atmospheric contamination. The substrates may comprise, for example, sapphire to allow for light beam transmission and heat conductance. Confinement materials that may be employed to seal the first substrate to the second substrate may include, for example, silicon or a metal (e.g., silver, copper, aluminum, etc.) The phosphor material may comprise, for example, at least one quantum dot material.
FIBER-COMPOSITE SANDWICH MATERIAL CONTAINING SHAPE-MEMORY ALLOYS
A sandwich component including at least two cover layers and one core layer containing wires including shape-memory metal. A process for producing the sandwich component is also disclosed.
Insulated Radiant Barriers in Apparel
Fabrics made for apparel, tents, sleeping bags and the like, in various composites, constructed such that a combination of substrate layers and insulation layers is configured to provide improved thermal insulation. The fabric composites are constructed to form a radiant barrier against heat loss via radiation and via conduction from a body.
Ventilation insert
A ventilation insert for textiles, with at least one layer, covered at least partially by an absorption material and having ventilation openings, the openings being at least partially closeable via a liquid by swelling of the absorption material, obtainable by: a) treating a layer having ventilation openings with a mixture, containing a wetting agent, initiator, polymerizable monomer or oligomers, and a cross-linking agent, as a preliminary stage for the absorption material; and b) polymerizing the monomer or oligomer to form the absorption material while forming a bonded connection between the absorption material and the layer. The ventilation insert has a relatively low thickness, a low weight per unit area, and high flexibility permanently and independently of moisture after economical production, via one layer, self-sealingly closing ventilation openings, and containing the absorption material. The absorption material is connected to the layer by bonding, at least in some regions.
DISSOLVABLE THERMAL DIRECT ADHESIVE LABEL AND METHODS OF ASSEMBLY AND USE OF THE SAME
A label assembly including one or more dissolvable thermal direct adhesive labels and methods of assembly and use. According to one embodiment, each label includes a base layer, a thermal direct layer, an adhesive layer, and a barrier layer. The base layer, which has an upper surface and a lower surface, is water-dissolvable and may be made of a water-dissolvable paper. The thermal direct layer is positioned directly over the upper surface of the base layer and functions in the conventional manner to produce markings therein in response to heat. The adhesive layer is water-dissolvable and is positioned below the lower surface of the base layer. The barrier layer, which is positioned directly below the lower surface of the base layer and directly over the adhesive layer, serves to prevent migration of the adhesive layer through the base layer and into contact with the thermal direct layer.

In an embodiment, a device and method for identifying a change in a predetermined condition. The device is a patch injected with ink that transforms in response to a change in the predetermined condition, such as, a change in temperature or change in the ultraviolet (UV) index level. The ink includes thermochromic ink that transforms or identifiably changes based on a change in a temperature condition, and/or photochromic ink that transforms or identifiably changes based on a change in an UV index level condition. When temperature increases or decreases to reach one or more threshold temperature values, the thermochromic ink transforms in an identifiable manner to indicate a condition has be met. When the UV index level increase or decrease to reach one or more threshold UV index levels, the photochromic ink transforms in an identifiable manner to indicate that a condition has be met.
