MEDICAMENT COMPOUNDING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Devices, systems, and methods used to compound a first medicament and second medicament are disclosed. The devices include a single-use or single-dose vial containing a first medicament and configured to receive an ampule containing a second medicament. The vial includes a stopper and needle configured to inject the first medicament into the ampule to compound with the second medicament.
DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR DELIVERY OF COMBINATION THERAPIES
In one aspect, the subject invention is directed to a method of preparing a combinatorial drug delivery device based on a predetermined selection of drug components. The method includes: preparing a plurality of containers, each accommodating one of the selected drug components; coupling the containers to a common outlet so that the drug components may be extracted from the containers and dispensed through the common outlet; and, applying negative pressure to extract the drug components from the containers and urge the drug components towards the common outlet.
Evacuated bottle system
An evacuated bottle system including a bottle defining a hollow interior, the bottle having a neck with a rim defining an opening; a cap assembly supported on the bottle, the cap assembly including a funnel having a first portion and a second portion, the first portion being insertable within the interior of the bottle and the second portion engaging a portion of the bottle to support the funnel above the rim, the funnel defining a bore that fluidly communicates with the hollow interior of the bottle; a self-sealing membrane that covers the bore formed by the funnel to selectively seal the hollow interior of the bottle; a cap attachable to the bottle, the cap including a cover portion that extends at least partially over the self-sealing membrane to restrain movement thereof, the cover portion being axially spaced from the self-sealing membrane to define a gap that permits axial movement of the self-sealing membrane to selectively open the bottle to fluid communication outside of the bottle.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND COMPONENTS FOR TRANSFERRING MEDICAL FLUIDS
An example of a method of enabling medical fluid transfer between a source container and a destination container can comprise the steps of providing a closed-system fluid transfer module comprising a first closeable, resealable medical connector and a second closeable, resealable medical connector, a multidirectional fluid control valve with a driving interface configured to interface with an electromechanical driver of an electronic medical fluid transfer device, and an intermediate container or an intermediate pumping region; and instructing a user to couple the closed-system fluid transfer module to the electronic medical fluid transfer device.
Transfer device
Compositions and methods for separating a sample of whole blood or bone marrow aspirate into a fraction rich in at least one of platelets and pluripotent cells are provided. A sample of whole blood can be centrifuged in a collection tube comprising a separator substance formulated to settle between the PRP fraction and the at least one other fraction. Preferably, centrifugation is completed without substantial activation of platelets. Optionally, the separator substance could be hardened to form a solid barrier that allows removal of all or substantially all of the platelets in the PRP fraction without remixing of the PRP fraction with the at least one other fraction. Transfer devices and methods are also provided in which a sterile sample can be transferred from a separation/preparation container (e.g., vacutainer) to a consumer or other container (e.g., dropper) while maintaining sterility of the sample.
Pressure-regulating vial access devices and methods
In certain embodiments, a vial access device for removing liquid contents from a vial includes a piercing member extending from a base of an insertion member and a reservoir. The reservoir can be contained within the piercing member and the insertion member, such that the reservoir is introduced to the vial when piercing member is inserted into the vial. The piercing member is adapted to be opened inside the vial to expose the reservoir to the contents inside the vial. A locking mechanism can prevent the piercing member from being inserted into the vial unless the vial access device is fully coupled to the vial and/or prevent the piercing member from being withdrawn from the vial without uncoupling the vial access device from the vial.
Mixing and/or reconstitution system
The mixing system includes an adaptor, an integrated injection device removably attached to the adaptor comprising a switching element, a first reservoir containing a fluidic first material, and a trigger. The adaptor includes a first attachment location configured to attach a vial. The vial contains a second material within a second reservoir, wherein the second material contains a medicament formulation. The adaptor also includes a first connection element, a flow channel providing fluid communication of the switching element and the first connection element, a sensing arrangement for detecting a pre-defined position of the vial at the first attachment location, and an interlock element which is configured to allow operation of the trigger in order to establish a fluid communication between the first connection element and the first reservoir only if the sensing arrangement detects the pre-defined position of the vial at the first attachment location.
Evacuated bottle system
A cap assembly including a self-sealing membrane that overlaps an opening to an interior of a container. The cap assembly further includes a cap having a cover portion that includes an annular wall that defines a central opening, and at least one evacuating opening located radially outward of the central opening. The cover portion defines a gap above the self-sealing membrane. The gap is configured to allow the self-sealing membrane to be at least partially displaced from the opening to allow fluid communication between the interior of the container and an outside atmosphere when a suction is applied to the cap.
Combinatorial drug delivery device
In one aspect, a combinatorial drug delivery device is provided for delivering a predetermined selection of drug components. The device includes a plurality of modules, each including: a body having an interior volume; a spike plate movably disposed in the interior volume, the spike plate having a protruding cannula and first and second ports. The device also includes a base tray which includes: a framework defining a plurality of wells, each of the wells formed to insertingly receive one of the modules; for each of the wells, first and second inlet ports formed to interface with the first and second ports of the module being received in the respective well; passageways to connect certain wells with adjacent wells to permit fluid flow therebetween. For each of the wells, the spike plate of the respective module being maintained in a stationary position with the module being inserted into the well.
MEDICAL FLUID INJECTION AND TRANSFER DEVICES AND METHOD
A medical fluid injection device, a medical fluid transfer device and a method of administering and transferring a medical fluid are disclosed. The device and method may include a compressed gas canister in fluid communication with an expandable elastic bladder positioned within a vial of drug to provide a means to deliver drug through an injection cannula that is movable between a plurality of positions or through a transfer conduit.
