Antimicrobial composition including a residual barrier film
This disclosure describes example antimicrobial compositions that may be used in combination with IV port cleansing caps, protective caps, or nasal decolonizer devices. According to another implementations, the disclosure describes that the antimicrobial composition may provide an indication that it has come into contact with a contaminant by bubbling or foam on a surface that is being cleaned. According to another implementation, the disclosure describes that the antimicrobial composition may leave a residual film or barrier to inhibit the recontamination of a surface that has been cleaned.
Port and surface cleaning devices and techniques
This disclosure describes example antimicrobial compositions that may be used in combination with IV port cleansing caps, protective caps, or both. According to another implementations, the disclosure describes various cap devices that may be used in combination with the antimicrobial composition to cleanse, sanitized, and/or disinfected a surface.
FLUID TRANSFER DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to a device for transferring precise amounts of fluid from at least one source container to at least one target container. In some embodiments, the fluid is first transferred from the source container (e.g., a vial) through a connector to an intermediate measuring container (e.g., a syringe). In some embodiments air can pass through an air inlet and enter the vial to compensate for the volume of fluid withdrawn from the vial. An air check valve or a bag or a filter can prevent the fluid from escaping through the air inlet. The precisely measured amount of fluid can then be transferred from the intermediate measuring container to the target container (e.g., an IV bag). In some embodiments the connector can include a source check valve and a target check valve to direct fluid first from the source container to the intermediate measuring container and then from the intermediate measuring container to the target container. Some embodiments of the device can include a motor and a controller for automatically actuating a plunger of the syringe to transfer the desired amount of fluid.
System for compounding and packaging ready to reconstitute ophthalmic drug powders to a solution or to a suspension for administration to an eye of a patient
A system and method for mixing compounds is disclosed. Accordingly to one embodiment a transfer device is provided that allows for diluent from a syringe to be introduced into a container having a first compound (e.g., powder) in a sterile manner. In second and third embodiments, systems are shown for combining and mixing first and second compounds contained in first and second containers in a sterile manner. Various dropper tips for dispensing the mixed compounds are disclosed.

Medical Device Assembly
Medical device assemblies having a connection mechanism for securely connecting a hub to fluid storage containers in a luer slip relationship are described. An exemplary medical device includes a hub forming a cavity, a second indicating element disposed within the cavity that engages the hub. Additional features of the medical device include a second indicating element contoured to form a line contact with the hub. In a specific configuration, the hub includes a first indicating element attached to the hub and extending proximally into the cavity having a protrusion. In a more specific configuration, the medical device includes a fluid storage container that has an indication system for visually indicating optimal fluid-tight engagement of the hub and the fluid storage container.
Coupling device
A coupling device (100) for transferring a fluid is provided. The coupling device comprises a first housing (110), a tube portion (140) projecting into the first housing, and a second housing (200) displaceably arranged within the first housing. The coupling device further comprises a third housing (300) releasably connectable to the second housing and displaceably arranged within the first housing when connected to the second housing. In a first position of the second housing, the first and second channels constitute a passage which is sealed by the first and second sealing elements when the second housing and the third housing are connected. In a second position, the tube portion projects through the first and second sealing elements and into the sealed passage for enabling a transfer of fluid through the coupling device.
System and method for preparing peritoneal dialysis fluid at the time of use
A peritoneal dialysis system includes first and second concentrate sources in selective fluid communication with a medical fluid pumping cassette, the first and second concentrate sources holding first and second peritoneal dialysis concentrates, respectively; a pump actuator configured to cause the medical fluid pumping cassette to pump the first and second concentrates; and a processor and memory configured to (i) determine a cumulative volume of at least one of the first or second peritoneal dialysis concentrates pumped from the medical fluid pumping cassette by the pump actuator, (ii) compare the cumulative volume to a threshold, and (iii) if the cumulative volume is outside of the threshold, modify a subsequent stroke volume of at least one of the first or second pump chambers actuated by the pump actuator in an attempt to cause an updated cumulative volume for the at least one peritoneal dialysis concentrate to be within the threshold.
Disinfecting caps having an extendable feature
Some assemblies can include a male cap and a female cap, each of which can be used to cover separated medical connectors. In certain arrangements, a male cap can include a movable carriage that transitions from a retracted position when an assembly with which the male cap is associated is in a closed state to an extended position when the assembly is in an open state.
