The blue coloring agent is selected from the group consisting of a blue pigment and a blue dye. The blue pigment has a blue to blue-violet color with a hue angle in the CIELAB system ranging from 200 degrees to 320 degrees. The whitening dentifrice composition provides a greater whitening benefit to a tooth surface in comparison to a dentifrice composition that does not contain the zinc salt.
