Occlusive compositions
The invention provides for a topical o/w emulsion having moisturizing, and protecting, repairing or restoring the skin lipid barrier of the lips of a mammal, and is a topical oil-in-water emulsion composition comprising: (a) a discontinuous oil phase; (b) a continuous aqueous phase comprising water; (c) a thickening agent; (d) at least one lamellar membrane structure comprising (i) an alkyl amphiphilic component, (ii) an ester of a branched fatty acid and a branched fatty alcohol, (iii) a fatty acid, (iv) a fatty alcohol, and optionally (v) a phospholipid; and wherein in use the composition has a water vapor transmission rate of less than 65 g.Math.m.sup.−2.Math.hr.sup.−1 measured in vitro.
N-acyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamines and/or mixtures of N-acyl-ethanolamines with phosphatidic acids or lysophosphatidic acids
Pharmaceutical, cosmetic and dietetic compositions and functional foods, constituted by: A) phospholipid mixtures containing N-acyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamines (NAPEs) and/or B) phospholipid mixtures containing N-acyl-ethanol amines (NAEs) together with phosphatidic acids (PAs) and/or lysophosphatidic acids (LPAs) with the proviso that said N-acyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamines (NAPEs) do not include N-oleoyl-phosphatidyl-ethanolamine. New phosphobioflavonic complexes of NAPE or NAE with one or more bioflavonoids are also disclosed.
COMPOSITIONS, KITS AND METHODS FOR MAINTAINING EYELID HYGIENE
Compositions and methods for cleansing the eyelid and treating an ocular condition are disclosed herein. A method for treating an ocular condition involves cleansing an eyelid with a first ophthalmic composition, wherein the first ophthalmic composition consists essentially of water, PEG-80 sorbitan laurate, methyl gluceth-20, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, salicyloyl phytosphingosine, decyl glucoside, 1,2 hexanediol, caprylyl glycol, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, panthenol, polyaminopropyl biguanide, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and calcium chloride followed by applying a therapeutically effective amount of a second ophthalmic composition to a margin of the eyelid, wherein the second ophthalmic composition consists essentially of water and hypochlorous acid.
CERAMIDE DISPERSION COMPOSITION
There is provided a method for stably dispersing a naturally occurring free ceramide (in particular, a naturally occurring human-type free ceramide) containing a long-chain fatty acid in the ceramide skeleton in an aqueous phase. More specifically, provided is a ceramide dispersion composition comprising a naturally occurring free ceramide, a nonionic surfactant, a phospholipid, and a C.sub.2-6 diol, the mass ratio of the naturally occurring free ceramide to the diol being 1:3 to 25, the naturally occurring free ceramide comprising a free ceramide that contains a fatty acid having 20 or more carbon atoms in the ceramide skeleton thereof.
DIETARY SUPPLEMENT NON-FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
Provided herein is a storage stable non-fluoride toothpaste composition enriched with a dietary supplement containing both oil soluble and water soluble vitamins. The dietary supplement is incorporated into the toothpaste, the dietary supplement containing a water soluble vitamin portion including at least one water soluble vitamin and an oil soluble vitamin portion. The oil soluble vitamin portion includes at least one oil soluble vitamin, a carrier oil and an emulsifier. The toothpaste is thereby formulated in a manner such that oral application will result in systemic delivery of at least a portion of the dietary supplement to meet a 2% RDI threshold even when 3 or less serving sizes are orally applied.
High alcohol content sanitizer
An antimicrobial sanitizing composition in the form of a gel or cream containing an alcohol in an amount of at least 55% by weight. The sanitizer is capable of disinfecting a variety of surfaces, including the skin. In addition to alcohol, the sanitizer contains an anionic phospholipid in a controlled concentration as well as components conventionally found in skin creams and gels such as emulsifiers, emollients, moisturizers, rheology modifiers, and neutralizers.
BOTANICAL ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION
An antiseptic composition for use as a topical skin sanitizer or as a surface disinfectant includes Populus tremuloides Bark Extract and/or Ribes Nigum Fruit Extract in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 50 weight percent effective as a broad spectrum antiseptic and antimicrobial agent. The composition includes an aqueous medium and/or one or more oils. The amount of the aqueous medium is from 45 to about 95 weight percent. The amount of oils is from 0.03 to about 50 weight percent. The composition may also include up to about 1 weight percent of one or more soothing agents; up to about 5 weight percent of one or more thickeners; and up to about 38 weight percent of one or more emulsifiers. The composition does not contain alcohols, chlorinated compounds, iodine, or phenols.
Composition of external application to skin
The composition of external application to the skin according to the present invention may specifically control the relative amount between long-chain amides and sterols and the relative amount between lipid components and an emulsifier in the emulsion having a multi-layered lamella structure, the emulsion comprising a relatively larger content of dermatologically useful hydrophobic material in a formulation. Thus, the formulation having significantly high stability and excellent characteristics can be obtained in spite of the high content in the lipid components and the emulsifier.
PHARMACEUTICAL OR COSMETIC COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING A POLYMER AND AN ABSORPTION PROMOTER FOR CONTROLLED RELEASE OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Disclosed is a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition or medical device for topical use including: a) a cosmetically or pharmaceutically active substance; b) a polyvinylcaprolactam/polyvinyl acetate/polyethylene glycol copolymer; and c) a phospholipid. Also disclosed is a method for treatment incorporating such a composition.
VESICLES
The present invention relates to vesicular formulations for use in the topical administration of a therapeutic, metabolic, cosmetic or structural Agent Of Interest (“AOI”) and methods of administering an AOI.
