PORTABLE PROFILER FOR LOCOMTOVE OR RAILCAR WHEELS
A portable apparatus for configuring a wheel associated with a track is provided. The apparatus is in a fixed position with respect to a rail associated with the track when in operation. The apparatus includes a tool configured to engage the wheel, a position system for positioning the cutting tool in at least two axis, and a computer control. The computer control is coupled to control the positioning system. The positioning system is controlled so that the wheel is configured in accordance with a profile.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF RE-PROFILING LOCOMOTIVE RAILCAR WHEELS
An apparatus reconfigures or configures a wheel associated with a train. The apparatus comprises a tool configured to engage the wheel a compound slide system for positioning the cutting tool in at least two axes. The compound slide system is controlled so that the wheel is configured in accordance with a profile. The slide system can be moved mechanically and/or pneumatically and/or can use a mechanical profile. The apparatus can have a low profile and a low weight.
SYSTEMS AND DEVICES FOR PERFORMING POWERED THREADING OPERATIONS
A device and associated system for threading, cutting, and reaming pipe ends are described. The device and system utilizes a brushless DC electric motor. The devices also include on-board electronics and operator interface(s) to provide sophisticated control and information as to the various operations. Also described are methods of operating the devices and several different modes for performing various operations.
Dose button for a drug delivery device and method for manufacturing a dose button
The present invention relates to a drug delivery device (6) comprising a dose button (1). Furthermore it relates to a method for manufacturing a dose button (1) by using a cutting-off process. The aim of the present invention is to minimize the risk of using a drug delivery device (6) containing a wrong drug. By means of tactile features, a drug delivery device (6) is distinguishable from another drug delivery device (6) containing another type of drug. This tactile feature is manufactured by using a dose button (1) out of metal which is milled or lathed.
SLIDING-TYPE CONSTANT VELOCITY UNIVERSAL JOINT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A plunging type constant velocity universal joint includes outer and inner joint members that transmit torque therebetween through intermediation of a ball while allowing angular displacement. The outer joint member is configured to receive an internal component comprising the ball and the inner joint member so that the internal component is slidable in an axial direction. The universal joint also includes a stopper mechanism that has an annular groove, and is configured to restrict axial displacement of the internal component by allowing the ball to interfere with a circlip fitted to the annular groove. The annular groove has a conical surface, which is inclined with respect to an axial direction so that the conical surface and an axial tangent line at a contact point between the ball and the circlip form a wedge angle opened from an opening end portion of the outer joint member toward a far side.

The computer control is coupled to control the positioning system. The positioning system is controlled so that the wheel is configured in accordance with a profile.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of manufacturing machined product
A cutting insert that has, in an upper surface, a convex portion including a main portion having a flat upper end surface, a first portion projecting from the main portion to a corner portion of the upper surface, a second portion projecting from the first portion to the corner portion, and a third portion projecting from the second portion to the corner portion. Upper end heights of the second portion and the third portion are fixed toward the corner portion, respectively. The first portion and the second portion are connected by a first flat inclined wall surface, the second portion and the third portion are connected by a second wall surface of a convex curved surface, and a front end of the third portion and the breaker groove are connected by a third wall surface of a convex curved surface.
Lathe head for nano/micro machining of materials
Apparatus, methods and systems for nano/micro machining. A lathe head has a microscopic pivot aperture for seating a conical tip. The conical tip is carried on a turnable part at one end thereof and is polished down to a microscopic apex. The microscopic pivot aperture is dimensioned for seating the concentric tip in the pivot aperture such that an apex of the conical tip protrudes through and beyond the aperture to a position in close proximity with the aperture. A driver system can comprise a rotator for axially rotating the turnable part, including the conical tip seated in the pivot aperture, and a forward pressure applicator for concurrently applying forward pressure to the conical tip in the direction of the pivot aperture. A light/particle beam system can be utilized to machine the rotating conical tip and the rotating turnable part, including the tip, can be easily removed after machining.
Tubular connection refacing apparatus and methods
An apparatus and method of using an apparatus for refacing a tubular connection is provided. In one example, the apparatus has a mandrel connectable to a threaded portion of a tubular connection and two face plates bearing cutters for refacing surfaces of the tubular connection. In this example, the cutting is controlled by an engaging nut moving along a threaded portion of a drive shaft, and the two face plates may be spaced apart at a fixed distance to maintain the distance between the torque-stop surface and the primary surface after refacing. Also, the apparatus uses a locking pin to assist in tightening or loosening the mandrel into place using the remainder of the apparatus. An air-oil system is provided to supply air and oil to the cutting surfaces as the apparatus refaces the shoulders of the connection. An exemplary pin refacer and an exemplary box refacer are both disclosed.
