Method and system for forming masks
09782788 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A method and apparatus for protecting a structure. A surface of the structure may be identified from a model of the structure. A perimeter of the surface of the structure may be identified from the model. The perimeter may be identified for the surface of the structure to be covered by a masking system during painting of the structure. A two-dimensional representation of the masking system may be generated for the structure based on the perimeter of the surface of the structure. Features for the masking system may be generated within the two-dimensional representation. Identifiers may be assigned to the features in the two-dimensional representation. Instructions for a forming tool may be generated based on the identifiers. The masking system may be formed from a sheet of masking material using the forming tool based on the instructions.

Method for installing a pulling head assembly

A workstation and method for the installation of a pulling head assembly onto one or more conductors of a cabling system are provided. The workstation incorporates one or more of: a conductor clamp that holds the conductors of the cabling system in place during the installation of the pulling head assembly; a cutting guide having indicia marks that indicate the lengths to which to cut the conductors in order to achieve a staggered pattern of pulling eyes attached to the conductors in the pulling head assembly; a stripping tool that is used to remove a portion of the insulation from the terminal end of each conductor so that the end of the conductor may be inserted into the pulling eye; and a crimping tool that is used to crimp the pulling eyes onto the terminal ends of each of the conductors.

CUTTING APPARATUS AND METHOD

In a cutting apparatus a rotating carousel conveys caps made of synthetic plastic material to a fixed blade having the shape of a circumferential arc. The caps are rotated about themselves by spindles. The blade cuts an annular weakening line to form the tamperproof ring of the cap. The carousel has an emitter and a laser receiver that cooperate to detect the presence or absence of the cutting edge of the fixed blade. The apparatus ensures good cutting quality.

Hole punching pliers and method of using same

Disclosed are pliers and related methods for punching a hole in a non-flat material without distorting the material. Such pliers may comprise a first member having a first handle and a first jaw, and a second member having a second handle and a second jaw. The first and second members are attached at a connection point to permit pivoting in response to a squeezing force on the handles. The first jaw comprises a punch tip to be received by the second jaw, where the punch tip may have an angled distal end truncating a cross-section of the punch tip. The second jaw comprises a shaped edge facing the punch tip and extending along a length of the second jaw, the shaped edge having substantially the same shape as the non-flat material and comprising an opening having substantially the same shape as the cross-section of the punch tip and to receive the tip therein.

CROSS-CUTTING DEVICE

A roof pipe flashing with a raised boot and elongated opposite extensions extending therefrom which roof pipe flashing is used to cover and weatherproof an existing but damaged roof pipe flashing on the pitched roof of a building. The roof pipe flashing can be made manually by cutting or tearing along pre-marked lines on the flat base of a roof pipe flashing.

Display panel and method for narrowing edges and increasing edge strength thereof

An edge narrowing method for a display panel is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing the display panel, a grinding apparatus and a polishing apparatus; tilting the display panel so that the first substrate and a grinding member of the grinding apparatus have a first grinding angle therebetween; grinding the first substrate and the light-shielding area with the grinding apparatus while the display panel is tilted at the first grinding angle, thereby forming a first grinding end surface; stopping grinding of the first substrate and the light-shielding area when the width of the light-shielding area is between 0.35 and 1 mm; and polishing the first grinding end surface with the polishing apparatus to form a first end surface.

System for portioning foodstuff to user-specified shape

A system for cutting a three-dimensional portion from a foodstuff includes a conveyor for carrying a foodstuff to be portioned, a scanner located adjacent to the conveyor for scanning the foodstuff, a computer coupled to the scanner for receiving scan information to determine one or more cutting paths for the foodstuff, and a cutter for portioning the foodstuff according to the determined cutting path(s). The computer performs generally four steps: (i) receiving scan information from the scanner; (ii) building a three-dimensional map of the foodstuff based on the received scan information; (iii) fitting at least one desired shape, which is stored in the memory of the computer, onto the built three-dimensional map; and (iv) determining one or more cutting paths for portioning the foodstuff to produce one or more portioned foodstuffs corresponding to the at least one desired shape.
