MICROEMULSIONS AND METHODS OF USE
Compositions are described that include an oil, a surfactant, and optionally a charged polymer complex, where the composition may also include an aqueous phase to provide a microemulsion. Methods of manufacturing the compositions are also described, along with methods of using the compositions in home care and personal care.
TRANSPARENT COMPOSITIONS
A composition comprising: A) a transparent gel base, comprising: a) a polymeric thickener, b) a solubiliser, c) a pH adjuster, d) a calcium sequestrant, e) water, f) an optional protein, g) an optional active material, which is selected from disaccharides, lactones, inorganic salts, diacids and mixtures thereof, h) an optional dye preferably comprising violet, blue, red or mixtures thereof, wherein the solubiliser comprises a mixture of at least two components, said mixture comprising at least one high HLB component having an HLB value of from 10 to 20 and at least one low HLB component having an HLB value of from 1 to less than 10, and B) a hydrogel particle, comprising: a) a matrix, and b) a silicone or blend of silicones, wherein the silicone or blend of silicones has an average molecular weight of greater than 400 Da, and wherein the particle has an average diameter of 0.1 to 15 mm and wherein the silicone is present in an amount of from 5 to 40 wt % by total weight of the particle. A method of treating a substrate includes contacting the substrate with the composition and applying a releasing force to the hydrogel particle to release the silicone.
BENEFIT DELIVERY PARTICLE
A hydrogel particle, comprising: a) a matrix, and b) a silicone or blend or silicones, wherein the silicone or blend of silicones has an average molecular weight of greater than 400 Da, and wherein the particle has an average diameter of 0.1 to 15 mm and wherein the silicone is present in an amount of from 5 to 40 wt %, preferably from 25 to 40 wt % by total weight of the particle.
Products containing charged polymer complex microcapsules and method of use
In one aspect, the invention provides a method for treating a protein-containing surface, including applying to the surface a microcapsule suspension including droplets of a dispersed water-immiscible core phase, an aqueous continuous phase, and a wall surrounding each core phase droplet, the wall including the salt formed from at least one amphiphilic Lewis acid reactant or amphiphilic Lewis base reactant, and at least one corresponding Lewis base reactant or Lewis acid reactant.
Long lasting breath mint
A long lasting breath mint including a carrier and a flavorant, wherein the carrier includes at least one of a high viscosity cellulose ether and a low viscosity cellulose either and an alginate. The carrier forms a gel upon contact with saliva. A tablet is placed in the mouth of user, whereupon the tablet is wetted with saliva. A surface of the tablet is converted to a gel resulting in a tablet having an outer gel layer and a core. The gel serves as an adhesive for adhering the tablet to mouth structure. The gel slows exposure of the core to moisture and also slows diffusion of flavorant into the mouth of the user with the gel resulting in a breath mint having an extremely long life prior to complete dissolution, e.g., greater than 30 minutes or longer.
Adherent Dental Synbiotic Lozenge for Oral and General Health
Provided is a more effective dental synbiotic lozenge that is intra-orally adhesive. The lozenge contains adhesive prebiotics and excipients, and one or more species of probiotic organisms. While safely adhered to an intra-oral surface, the lozenge dissolves to provide a controlled time-release of the excipients, prebiotics, and probiotic organisms over a period of hours instead of minutes. The lozenge dissolves into a malleable biofilm that includes a natural biofilm formed by the prebiotics and a supplemental biofilm formed by the excipients. The lozenge can be used while sleeping, which can increase probiotic availability exponentially. The result is a lozenge that allows for a smaller, but more diverse, microbial payload that can grow over time such that a fewer number of organisms are needed from the start. In one embodiment, the lozenge contains adhesive prebiotics acacia and inulin, along with additional excipients microcrystalline cellulose, HPMC K15, and sodium alginate.
PROTECTIVE SKIN COMPOSITIONS
