Micro-cutting systems for forming cuts in products

This disclosure describes a micro-cutting machine for forming cuts in catheters, guidewires, and similar products. The micro-cutting machine can directly control the dimensions of the resultant beams being cut into these types of products, and can also capture images of each cut for feedback control and accuracy verification. The micro-cutting machine has two cutting blades each with cutting edges aligned with a vertical axis. Motors operate to move the cutting blades in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stock material being cut to form a pair of opposing grooves in the stock material with each cut.

A miter saw includes a base assembly and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the base assembly. The saw unit includes a saw blade and an upper blade guard covering an upper portion of the saw blade. The miter saw also includes a cut line indicator coupled to the upper blade guard. The cut line indicator includes a light source, a cover positioned between the saw blade and the light source, a housing in which the light source is positioned, a rib coupled to one of the cover or the housing, and a first slot defined in the other of the cover or the housing. The cover includes a second slot through which light from the light source passes to illuminate opposite sides of the saw blade and a work piece supported upon the base assembly, thereby casting a shadow of the saw blade onto the work piece. The rib is receivable within the first slot to align the second slot with the saw blade.

MICRO-CUTTING SYSTEMS FOR FORMING CUTS IN PRODUCTS

Micro-cutting machines for forming cuts in catheters, guidewires, and similar products, are disclosed, including a micro-cutting machine that can directly control the dimensions of the resultant beams being cut into products, and that can capture images of each cut for feedback control and accuracy verification.

Remote cutter head and system

A remote cutter head and a system therefore which can operate in confined spaces are provided. The remote cutting system including a cutter assembly driven by a fluid source, a pushrod hose coupling the cutter assembly to the fluid source, a control assembly detachably secured to the pushrod hose, and a monitor assembly coupled to at least one camera. The monitor assembly provides video images of the cutter assembly and cutter assembly surroundings. The cutting head including a fluid-driven gearmotor, the gearmotor including a two-piece housing, bearings, a pressure balanced gearmotor cavity, and two rotating members provided in the pressure balanced gearmotor cavity, one of the rotating members protruding from the cutting head. High-pressure fluid provided to the cutting head turns the two rotating members to drive a cutting bit attached to the rotating member protruding from the cutting head. Also provided is a cutting bit.

Miter saw

A miter saw includes a base assembly and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the base assembly. The saw unit includes a saw blade and a lower blade guard covering a lower portion of the saw blade. The miter saw also includes a linkage for raising the lower blade guard to expose the lower portion of the saw blade as the saw unit is lowered toward the base assembly. The linkage is operable to apply a force to the lower blade guard for holding the lower blade guard in a raised position, without any input from the operator of the miter saw and without changing the length of the linkage, to facilitate changing the saw blade.
