20240344313 · 2024-10-17 ·

A water shutoff apparatus includes a housing and first and second valves located within the housing. The first and second valves are configured to be fluidly connected to an external appliance and an external first and second water supply lines that provide water at first and second temperatures to an appliance. The first and second valves include an open position, in which the water supply is enabled to supply the water to the appliance, and a closed position, in which the first water supply is prevented from supplying the water to the appliance. The first valve is independent from the second valve. At least one water sensor is electrically connected to the first and second valves. The sensor is operable between an inactivated state and an activated state when wet to activate the first and second valves to move into their closed positions.

Battery spill containment system and method of making the same

A spill containment assembly for containing fluids, such as battery acid, leaked or spilled from one or more devices stored on a storage rack and thereby prevent contamination of surrounding areas. The spill containment assembly includes a series of wall segments coupled together and a series of adjustable clips for coupling the wall segments to the storage rack. The series of wall segments together define a perimeter of a spill containment chamber for containing the fluids leaked from the one or more devices.

Spill reducing toilet water retaining mat

A retaining mat is suitably sized to stabilize a toilet while the toilet is being replaced or installed. The mat prevents damage to adjacent tile, carpet, wood, or other flooring during toilet replacement. The mat includes an encircling retaining lip so as to form a catch basin to receive any water which may escape from the toilet.

Wireless automated shutoff valve

A modular water leakage detector includes a housing that carries a plurality of water leakage sensors, an electrical water shutoff valve, and circuitry coupled thereto. In response to sensing water leakage, the circuitry actuates the valve to shut off a water supply. Detectors can communicate alarm indicating signals directly with one another. The detectors can include a wireless transmitter and communicate with a displaced alarm monitoring system.

Drain device

The invention relates to a drain device (5) for discharging waste water, having an upper edge surface (65) forming an outer perimeter of the drain device (5), a support surface (40) for supporting a cover member such that essentially, the walkable surface thereof extends flush with the upper edge surface (65), and having a bottom (10) for catching, and for conveying waste water to an opening (82) of an outflow connecting pipe (80). The upper edge surface (65), the support surface (40), and the bottom (10) are connected to one another by way of connection walls (25, 50) extending essentially vertically when in use. At least one part of the support surface (40) is formed in a sloping manner in the direction of the bottom (10) such that during use, waste water, which reaches the support surface (40), flows in the direction of the bottom (10).

LEAK PREVENTING APPLIANCE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING LIQUID FROM LEAKING OUT OF A DAMAGED TANK
20180118455 · 2018-05-03 ·

A leak preventing appliance and method for preventing liquid from leaking out of a damaged tank (2). The appliance comprises a suction head (4) to be pressed against an outer wall (5) of the tank under the effect of an underpressure generated by a vacuum pump(3). The suction head comprises a first chamber (6) and a second chamber (9) arranged around the first chamber. Each chamber has an opening (7, 10) intended to face said tank wall. The suction head is attachable to the tank wall under the effect of a reduced pressure produced in the second chamber by the vacuum pump. The first chamber is connectable to the vacuum pump via a valve device (8), which is configured to keep the first chamber connected to the vacuum pump when a reduced pressure produced in the second chamber by the vacuum pump is below a threshold value and to otherwise keep the first chamber disconnected from the vacuum pump.

Fluid management in a HVAC system

A spill over tank for an evaporator of a HVAC system may be configured to receive a refrigerant spilled over from the evaporator. The spill over tank may be configured to have an outlet that directs the refrigerant in the spill over tank out of the spill over tank. The refrigerant may flow through the outlet back to a compressor of the HVAC system. The spill over tank may be equipped with a refrigerant level sensor configured to measure a refrigerant level in the spill over tank. The measured refrigerant level in the spill over tank may be used to control and/or maintain a refrigerant level in the evaporator, and/or may be used to control a return refrigerant flow into the compressor of the HVAC system so as to manage an oil return to the compressor.

Self-activated draining system

A method of managing leakage of liquid inside a battery system comprises: containing leaking liquid in a non-liquid sensitive region of the battery system so as to protect internal electrical components of the battery system from coming in contact with the leaking liquid; and in direct response to the leakage, expunging the leaking liquid from the battery system. A drain device includes: a body with a port therethrough, the body configured to be positioned in a wall of a container; means for opening the port in response to a first liquid contacting the drain device on an inside of the container; and means for resisting ingress into the container by a second liquid that contacts the drain device on an outside of the container.

Breach containment device with sample saver
09874313 · 2018-01-23 ·

A containment device with a sample saving feature is disclosed. The device is equipped to withstand the pressure created by a breached LACT unit, pump conduit, sample selector, high pressure pump, volume regulator, or other similar equipment. The device is equipped with at least one vent disposed at the top of the container. Additionally, the device is equipped with at least one drain disposed at the bottom of the container, configured to drain any breached contents to be saved, minimizing product loss. A center conduit is disposed between the top portion and the bottom portion of the container, providing for the placement of the entirety of the LACT unit or other equipment to be housed within the container. At least one sensor is disposed within the containment device, and is configured to detect the presence of liquid. Upon detection of liquid product within the device, an alarm or other indicator may be activated, calling attention to the breach.

Medical Device Leak Sensing Devices, Methods, and Systems

Features for protecting against leaks in a fluid circuit are disclosed. In an embodiment, a first indicator of a leak is used to trigger confirmation by blood flow reversal and air detection in the blood circuit. A method for performing a blood treatment includes, at blood treatment machine, pumping blood to a patient through a first blood line. Further, at a controller of the blood treatment machine, a first signal is received, indicating a probability of a leak in the first blood line. Responsively to the first signal, the controller commands a leak verification operation and receives a second signal indicating whether a leak in the first blood line is verified. Further, a leak indicating signal is generated if the second signal indicates a leak is verified.
