Disclosed herein are cosmetic compositions comprising (1) at least one polyvinyl alcohol-styrylpyridinium polymer and (2) at least one latex film-forming polymer. Also disclosed herein are methods for making up and/or enhancing the appearance of a keratinous substrate comprising (1) forming a film on the keratinous substrate by applying to said keratinous substrate a cosmetic composition comprising (a) at least one polyvinyl alcohol-styrylpyridinium polymer and (2) at least one latex film-forming polymer and (2) exposing the film to radiation chosen from UV and visible light radiation.

There are also disclosed compositions comprising nanoparticles of such BLT crystals, the nanoparticles being optionally dispersed in a polymer matrix. Methods of preparation and uses of such compositions are also provided.

Compositions for nail varnish, which are free or substantially free of nitrocellulose, include, in a cosmetically acceptable organic solvent: a primary film-forming agent consisting of polyvinyl butyral, a fumed silica, at least one secondary resin, at least one plasticiser, at least one colourant, which is insoluble in said solvent.

Cosmetic compositions and methods for changing the color of keratinic fibers are provided herein. In an embodiment, a cosmetic composition for lightening the color of keratinic fibers includes at least two separately packaged formulations (A) and (B), which are mixed immediately prior to application to give an application mixture. The formulation (A) includes at least one dye chosen from the group of oxidation dye precursors, direct dyes, or a combination thereof. The composition (B) is a flowable composition including water and at least one oxidizing agent. Formulation (A) has been packaged in a water-soluble film including, based on its total weight, at least about 60% by weight of a polymer mixture having a multimodal molecular weight distribution.

This invention describes thermal insulative compositions and methods for protecting feet from hot surfaces particularly sand, concrete, and asphalt found on beaches. The compositions comprise a film forming matrix which may or may not be polymeric; a phase transition compound such as wax, nonionic surfactants and a solvent. The thermal insulative compositions have a first state in a liquid, cream, or gel form, and a second state in a solid film form.

The present invention relates to a general process for treating keratin substances, preferably keratin fibres, comprising the following steps: c) applying to the keratin substances a composition comprising at least one photo-crosslinkable polymer including at least one photo-dimerizable pendant group and at least one hydrophobic pendant group, and d) irradiating said composition on the keratin substances to crosslink the polymer.

A method and kit for treating a nail surface. The method includes brushing or spraying an adhesive on a coated or uncoated nail surface to form an adhesive-coated surface. A covering (e.g., a curable nail gel, evaporative nail polish, or artificial nail) is then applied to the adhesive-coated surface. The covering is removable by soaking in solvent for less than 20 minutes, peeling, or a combination thereof.

Encapsulated sweeteners and a method for producing same. The invention relates to a composition of encapsulated sweeteners containing 1-40 wt. % of sweetening agents and 60-99 wt. % of vinyl acetate vinyl laurate copolymers, as well as a method for producing same and the use of same in confectionary, medicines or chewing gum.
