A cosmetic composition for temporary reshaping keratinous fibers, having: a) a cationically modified guar derivative having a weight-average molecular weight in the range of from about 5,000 to about 200,000 and a cationic degree of substitution in the range of from about 0.1 to about 2 and b) at least one polyimide, and
their use and a method of using such a composition.

Disclosed herein are oil-in-water dispersions and sunscreen compositions that contain them, which exhibit high in vivo sun protection factor (SPF) efficiency due to the ability of the dispersions to both absorb and scatter ultraviolet (UV) light. These high efficiency sunscreen compositions include discrete oil particles that are enclosed within a solid coating and dispersed in an aqueous phase, wherein each oil particle contains an organic ultraviolet A (UVA) and/or an organic ultraviolet B (UVB) absorbing compound, and optionally a photostabilizer.

A robust sunscreen composition is disclosed herein comprising a water soluble polymer and a water insoluble film former providing a synergistic effect in SPF retention and critical wavelength after immersion in water, salt water, and chlorinated water. The water soluble polymer comprises poloxamer 338 (and) PPG-12/SMDI copolymer, poloxamer 407 (and) PPG-12/SMDI copolymer, or a combination thereof.

A cosmetic agent and a method for improving water resistance of a pigment-containing cosmetic composition are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a cosmetic agent comprises (a) at least one anionic polymer A, (b) at least one amphoteric polymer B, and (c) at least one pigment. These cosmetic agents display an extremely good water resistance but may, however, be removed without residue in one application of surfactant-containing cleaning agents.

Cosmetic agents for the temporary color change of keratinous surfaces, in particular human hair and human skin, contain an alcohol having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, a special anionic polymer, and a pigment. The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition comprising DHA in combination with defined amounts of acrylates/VA copolymer and acrylates copolymer in a cosmetically acceptable base or delivery vehicle. When applied topically, these compositions have much less malodor that known DHA-containing products while providing a tan with even coloration that is more natural looking than many DHA-induced self-tans. Compositions according to the invention dry quickly after application to an anhydrous state, resist transfer through incidental contact, and exhibit long-wear. Compositions according to the invention are easily removed when scrubbed with water above a certain temperature, but not as easily removed with water below that temperature.

Formulation to treat the scalp and/or hair are provided herein. For example, formulations for reducing inflammation of hair follicles are provided, which, in turn, in some aspects, can help facilitate hair strengthening, smoothness and/or shine.
