The present invention is a door barricade having a pivoting locking arm which drops into a floor hole to lock a barricade in place.

A method of operating a window having a sash and a window opening limit device includes moving the sash from a closed position to a limited position. When in the limited position, the window opening limit device is in a projected position, and the sash is engaged with the window opening limit device. Moving the window opening limit device to a retracted position disengages the sash and the window opening limit device. The sash may then be moved from the limited position to an open range. When the sash is returned to the closed position, the window opening limit device automatically returns to the projected position, and the sash is disengaged with the window opening limit device.

The Lift Stop device includes an aluminum rod that is attached to a doorstop that is secured to a door for the purpose of lifting a doorstop from its down position to an up position.

A portable door securement device is provided having a member extending from a first end engaged to a doorknob of a door to a second end engaged with a floor adjacent the door, to prevent opening of the door in a direction toward the engaged member. A slot at a first end of the member engages around a stem of the door handle thereby preventing disengagement of the member from the door, and preventing opening of the door.

The present invention is a positioning mechanism device to prevent the motion of one surface with respect to a second surface, in one direction. The positioning mechanism uses a linear adjusting lock, an actuator, and an over-ride mechanism. The linear adjusting lock uses a coil spring to hold a rod in place. When firmly coiled, the coil spring is able to grip a smooth rod and prevent axial motion. When the coil spring is uncoiled, slightly, it releases its grip on the smooth rod, allowing axial motion. The positioner mechanism uses an actuator and release blade to release the coil spring. Additionally, the over-ride mechanism can be used to release the release blade in one direction without use of the actuator. When the coil spring is released by either the actuator or over-ride mechanism the two surfaces can be re-positioned relative to one another.

A door security system is provided which is used to prevent a door, which separates first and second spaces, from opening. The door security system includes a security apparatus which is configured to be engaged with the floor within a first space. If the door is to be opened into the first space, the security apparatus blocks the door from opening into the first space. If the door is to be opened into the second space, an attachment assembly of the door security system acts in concert with the attachment assembly to block the door from opening into the second space. The door security system further includes a release mechanism which can be manipulated from the second space to disengage the security apparatus within the first space, thereby allowing for the door to be opened into either the first or second spaces, as appropriate.

A lock assembly is provided for a window having a first sash and a second sash. The lock assembly comprises an elongate strip configured to be coupled to the first sash. The elongate strip has a plurality of recesses defined along a length of the elongate strip. The lock assembly also includes a lock member configured to be coupled to the second sash and operable to move along the length of the elongate strip. The lock member includes a biasing member and a coupler biased in a direction of the elongate strip by the biasing member. The coupler is configured to enter each of the plurality of recesses to selectively lock the lock member to the elongate strip.

A method of operating a window having a sash and a window opening limit device includes moving the sash from a closed position to a limited position. A window vent stop for use in a sliding sash window assembly or a sliding door assembly. The vent stop has a housing adapted to be disposed in a recess in the non-movable sash member. This housing includes a cavity with a bottom plate therein. The tumbler has at least one pivot for pivotally securing the tumbler to the housing for movement between an extended position to prevent movement of the sliding member and a retracted position, to allow movement of the sliding member. Also within the housing is a spring for biasing the tumbler. The housing has one or more flexible members extending from the end walls of the housing that secure the housing to an opening in a window sash when a portion of the window sash is positioned between the underside of a lip on said housing and the flexible member.
