A flexural pivot is disclosed. The flexural pivot can include a plurality of flexure support members, each flexure support member having a plurality of flexure openings defined at least partially by a cantilevered extension portion. The flexural pivot can also include at least one flexure to rotatably couple the plurality of flexure support members to one another. The at least one flexure can have first and second flexible blades arranged in a cross configuration. The first and second flexible blades can be disposed in the flexure openings of the flexure support members, and the cantilevered extension portions, at least in part, can couple the first and second flexible blades to the flexure support members.

Flexible joint arrangement incorporating flexure members
10060469 · 2018-08-28 · ·

Improved flexible joint arrangements employ at least one flexure member that interfaces with wrapping surfaces defined on the bases to which the ends of the flexure member are connected. The flexure members are configured to define a traveling instantaneous axis of rotation that moves along a path defined by the interface of the flexure and the wrapping surfaces as the bases move relative to each other. The flexure members and the bases can be constructed of a monolithic material. The wrapping surfaces of the bases can be asymmetric in cross-sectional shape. The radius of curvature of the traveling instantaneous axis of rotation can be configured to change only in discrete quantum steps without reversals. In other embodiments, the flexible joint arrangement can be configured as one or more three bar linkages in which the middle bar is rigid and the outer bars are flexure members in accordance with the various embodiments.

Morphing self-stiffening array (MOSSA) and hinge

A self-deployable array of panels includes a plurality of panels, each panel having a first compressed panel thickness state and a second expanded panel thickness state, and including a spring bias element biased to the second expanded panel thickness state. A plurality of locking hinges hingedly couple each of the panels to an adjoining panel. Each locking hinge is biased to an open position. A release of stored potential energy of both of the spring bias element biased to the second expanded panel thickness state, and the locking hinges biased to the open position causes the self-deployable array of panels to self-deploy from a folded stowed state. A single part offset locking hinge is also described.

METHOD OF POWERED WIDTH EXPANSION OF A BED

A bed comprises a fixed width deck section, a wing movably coupled to the fixed width section, and a rack and pinion mechanism for extending and retracting the wing.

High density polyethylene composition and closure

Disclosed is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) composition that comprises at least a first high density polyethylene component having a density of 0.940-0.968 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index I.sub.2.16 of 0.5-10.0 dg/min and a melt flow ratio (flow index I.sub.21.6 at 190 C. divided by melt index I.sub.2.16 at 190 C.) of at least 25. A second HDPE component may be included in the composition with melt index I.sub.2.16 of greater than 10 dg/min and melt flow ratio of 30 or less. The disclosed compositions are suitable for use in living hinge closure applications.

Musical percussion drum mounting clamp and related system

A structural connector is provided that limits transmissions of vibrations between connected structural elements in a building or structure. The structural connector is formed from two opposing sheets with a vibration damping material connecting the two.

Sprinkler with multi-functional, side-load nozzle with nozzle storage clip and related tool

A clip for holding a pair of nozzle inserts for use with an irrigation sprinkler includes at least two flexible attachment arms, each attachment arm provided with an elongated slot and a retention shoulder on an inside surface thereof, adjacent the elongated slot. Each attachment arm is adapted to be received in an opening in a respective nozzle insert and retained therein by the retention shoulder. A related tool includes a pair of gripper arms and a respective pair of jaws extending from the gripper arms, pivotally secured to one another. One jaw is formed with a pair of parallel prongs, and the other jaw is formed with a flat head projecting toward the pair of prongs. The jaws are adapted to engage the nozzle insert and disengage the retention shoulder to permit removal of the nozzle insert from the clip.

Monolithic two-axis flexure with center hole feature

Flexure structures, assemblies incorporating flexure structures, and methods utilizing flexure structures to support objects are provided. A flexure structure as disclosed can be formed monolithically from a single piece of material, includes a center aperture to accommodate at least portions of other elements or structures, allows for rotation of a supported object in two axes with very little translational movement of the supported object, provides mounting fixtures on opposite sides of the flexure structure, and has a relatively high load capacity.
