A refractory metal plate is provided. The plate has a center, a thickness, an edge, a top surface and a bottom surface, and has a crystallographic texture (as characterized by through thickness gradient, banding severity; and variation across the plate, for each of the texture components 100//ND and 111//ND, which is substantially uniform throughout the plate.

TAPERED SPIRAL WELDED STRUCTURE
20190063101 · 2019-02-28 ·

A method for creating a tapered spiral welded conical structure where the overall shape of the cone is first graphically slit axially and unwrapped, and then a series of construction arcs and lines are created to form the edge lines of a strip that can then be wrapped (rolled) to form a tapered conical structure. The edges of the spirally wound strip can be welded together, and a very large conical structure can thus be achieved. Various construction options are presented from a constant width strip to strip made from straight segments. Equations are given for the formation of the strips to enable those skilled in the art of spiral welded tubing to practice the invention.

Continuous oligocrystalline shape memory alloy wire produced by melt spinning

There is provided herein a shape memory alloy wire that includes an alloy composition of CuAlMnNi and excluding grain refiner elements. The alloy composition includes 20 at %-28 at % Al, 2 at %-4 at % Ni, 3 at %-5 at % Mn with Cu as a remaining balance of the alloy composition. The alloy composition is disposed as an elongated wire of at least about 1 meter in length, having a wire diameter of less than about 150 microns. At least about 50 vol % of said alloy composition along said wire length has an oligocrystalline microstructure as-disposed in the wire and without thermal treatment of the wire.

LAP-FILLET ARC WELDING JOINT AND JOINT STRUCTURE FOR PRESS FORMING PARTS

A lap-fillet arc welding joint includes a weld bead, the weld bead being formed on an end portion of one sheet of overlapped two sheets and a surface of other sheet along the end portion. The other sheet includes a projecting portion projecting from the surface at a side of a weld toe of at least one of a start portion and a termination portion of the weld bead. The weld toe is located on a slope surface portion of the projecting portion at a side of the end portion of the one sheet.

Method for manufacturing hollow profiles, and hollow profile

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing hollow profiles, having the following method steps: providing an initial hollow profile which in an insertion wall and optionally in at least one intermediate wall displays an insertion opening, providing a support element which displays a bolt element, an engagement element, and support walls which are disposed between the bolt element and longitudinal flanks, passing through the support element through the insertion opening until the support walls are positioned in the initial hollow profile, engaging a tool on the engagement element, rotating the support element by means of the tool until regions of the longitudinal flanks touch inner walls of the initial hollow profile, connecting the regions of the longitudinal flanks to the initial hollow profile via the inner walls.

Targets and processes for fabricating same

In particular embodiments, the present disclosure provides targets including a metal layer and defining a hollow inner surface. The hollow inner surface has an internal apex. The distance between at least two opposing points of the internal apex is less than about 15 m. In particular examples, the distance is less than about 1 m. Particular implementations of the targets are free standing. The targets have a number of disclosed shaped, including cones, pyramids, hemispheres, and capped structures. The present disclosure also provides arrays of such targets. Also provided are methods of forming targets, such as the disclosed targets, using lithographic techniques, such as photolithographic techniques. In particular examples, a target mold is formed from a silicon wafer and then one or more sides of the mold are coated with a target material, such as one or more metals.

METHODS FOR FORMING A BARRIER LAYER WITH PERIODIC CONCENTRATIONS OF ELEMENTS AND STRUCTURES RESULTING THEREFROM

A method is provided which includes dispensing and removing different deposition solutions during an electroless deposition process to form different sub-films of a composite layer. Another method includes forming a film by an electroless deposition process and subsequently annealing the microelectronic topography to induce diffusion of an element within the film. Yet another method includes reiterating different mechanisms of deposition growth, namely interfacial electroless reduction and chemical adsorption, from a single deposition solution to form different sub-films of a composite layer. A microelectronic topography resulting from one or more of the methods includes a film formed in contact with a structure having a bulk concentration of a first element. The film has periodic successions of regions each comprising a region with a concentration of a second element greater than a set amount and a region with a concentration of the second element less than the set amount.
