Composite Construction Panels and Applications Thereof

In one aspect, composite construction materials are described herein. In some embodiments, a composite construction panel comprises a substrate layer, a cover layer separated from the substrate layer by one or more spacers, and at least one mat disposed between the substrate layer and the cover layer, wherein the mat comprises at least one phase change material disposed in at least one phase change region.

Multidirectional fiber-reinforced tape/film articles and the method of making the same

High tenacity, high elongation multi-filament polymeric tapes as well as ballistic resistant fabrics, composites and articles made therefrom. The tapes are fabricated from multi-filament fibers/yarns that are twisted together, bonded together, compressed and flattened.

Fluoropolymer composite film wrapped wires and cables

A fluoropolymer composite film wire or cable wrap comprises an outer layer of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) and an inner layer of melt processable fluoropolymer film. The inner and outer layers are laminated with each other in tape form, such as by the application of heat and/or pressure thereto. The fluoropolymer composite tape is wrapped about one or more wires or cables, and is heated or sintered after wrapping to bond the tape to the wire or cable, and bond the tape to itself at the seams.

Method of manufacturing a composite laminate

A composite laminate is made by providing at least a first composite ply and a second composite ply, each having longitudinally oriented fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The second composite ply is disposed on, and in transverse relation to, the first composite ply. Preferably, the second ply is disposed at 90 relative to the first ply. An article can be manufactured by providing a core material and applying a reinforcing material to a portion of the core material. The reinforcing material is a reinforcing composite ply or a composite laminate as described herein. Optionally, the core material is a prepreg that may be a composite laminate.

GLASS CERAMIC PLATE FOR WORKTOP OR FURNITURE

A novel glass ceramic sheet intended in particular to be used as the surface of a furniture unit or as a worktop, the sheet including, at least in one of its faces, in particular its lower face, at least one connection element of a height less than or equal to 10 cm, the connection element including at least one part that is magnetized or at least one part made of a material capable of being attracted by a magnet. Furniture or a household equipment incorporating the glass ceramic sheet.

An expandable support member for an article of footwear includes a plurality of expansion components that are joined together. The support member can be expandable between a contracted position and an expanded position. The plurality of expansion components are configured to expand along a non-linear path when the support member moves between the contracted position and the expanded position.

Medical devices and instruments with non-coated superhydrophobic or superoleophobic surfaces
12036340 · 2024-07-16 ·

Device surfaces are rendered superhydrophobic and/or superoleophobic through microstructures and/or nanostructures that utilize the same base material(s) as the device itself without the need for coatings made from different materials or substances. A medical device includes a portion made from a base material having a surface adapted for contact with biological material, and wherein the surface is modified to become superhydrophobic, superoleophobic, or both, using only the base material, excluding non-material coatings. The surface may be modified using a subtractive process, an additive process, or a combination thereof. The product of the process may form part of an implantable device or a medical instrument, including a medical device or instrument associated with an intraocular procedure. The surface may be modified to include micrometer- or nanometer-sized pillars, posts, pits or cavitations; hierarchical structures having asperities; or posts/pillars with caps having dimensions greater than the diameters of the posts or pillars.

Computer apparatus for analyzing multiparametric MRI maps for pathologies and generating prescriptions

ELASTOMERIC GLOVES AND METHODS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION

The present application provides low thickness synthetic elastomeric gloves, comprising (a) a thickness at the palm of less than 0.050 mm; (h) a modulus at 500% above 6.5 MPa; and/or (c) an elongation at break below 700%. Also provided is a method for the manufacture of such gloves involving dipping a glove-shaped former into an elastomeric film-forming composition; and curing the elastomeric film-forming composition on the former so as to produce the synthetic elastomeric glove. Corresponding low thickness finger cots are also described, as are formers suitable for the preparation of such gloves.
