MEMBERS FOR SEALING, BAFFLING, OR REINFORCING
An article comprising: a carrier (12), activatable material (14) disposed on the carrier, one or more carrier extensions (16) extending from the carrier; wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a structure's cavity.
Microstructure synthesis by flow lithography and polymerization
In a method for synthesizing polymeric microstructures, a monomer stream is flowed, at a selected flow rate, through a fluidic channel. At least one shaped pulse of illumination is projected to the monomer stream, defining in the monomer stream a shape of at least one microstructure corresponding to the illumination pulse shape while polymerizing that microstructure shape in the monomer stream by the illumination pulse. An article of manufacture includes a non-spheroidal polymeric microstructure that has a plurality of distinct material regions.
COMPUTER APPARATUS FOR ANALYZING MULTIPARAMETRIC MRI MAPS FOR PATHOLOGIES AND GENERATING PRESCRIPTIONS
Image processing and analysis technique includes using a computer apparatus to assess a patient's magnetic resonance images or derived multiparametric maps for pathology and then automatically generate a prescription based at least in part on that assessment. The parametric maps are derived from an MRI sequence from which multiparametric maps are derivable.
TRASH CAN SPACER
Disclosed is a universal trash can spacer, a rigid spacer of particular shape designed to rest on the floor between a flip-top trash can and the wall of a building, in order to keep the can away from the wall and prevent the open lid of the can from hitting the wall and causing damage to the wall or can lid. Since flip-top trash cans come in many sizes and shapes (square, rectangular round, oval, etc.), the spacer device may be able to accommodate any and all such cans.
DISSOLVABLE THERMAL DIRECT ADHESIVE LABEL AND METHODS OF ASSEMBLY AND USE OF THE SAME
A label assembly including one or more dissolvable thermal direct adhesive labels and methods of assembly and use. According to one embodiment, each label includes a base layer, a thermal direct layer, an adhesive layer, and a barrier layer. The base layer, which has an upper surface and a lower surface, is water-dissolvable and may be made of a water-dissolvable paper. The thermal direct layer is positioned directly over the upper surface of the base layer and functions in the conventional manner to produce markings therein in response to heat. The adhesive layer is water-dissolvable and is positioned below the lower surface of the base layer. The barrier layer, which is positioned directly below the lower surface of the base layer and directly over the adhesive layer, serves to prevent migration of the adhesive layer through the base layer and into contact with the thermal direct layer.
Prepreg and carbon fiber reinforced composite materials
A prepreg containing a carbon fiber [A] and a thermosetting resin [B], and in addition, satisfying at least one of the following (1) and (2). (1) a thermoplastic resin particle or fiber [C] and a conductive particle or fiber [D] are contained, and weight ratio expressed by [compounding amount of [C] (parts by weight)]/[compounding amount of [D] (parts by weight)] is 1 to 1000. (2) a conductive particle or fiber of which thermoplastic resin nucleus or core is coated with a conductive substance [E] is contained.
Methods for making a bag from a film material exhibiting textile properties
A film material formed of thermoplastic polymer material is processed so as to have linearly extending regions (A) linked together by linearly extending webs (B), regions (A) and webs (B) each being oriented, the dominant direction of orientation in regions (A) forming an angle (V) to the direction on which (A) extends and webs (B) comprising arrays of linear furrows of thinner material or splits forming angles (U) higher than (V) to the direction in which (A) extends. The method of producing the new film involves passing an orientated film through a pair of intermeshing grooved rollers to cold-stretch the film in a direction at an angle to the predominant original orientation, at least one of the grooved rollers having crests with sharp edges to form the division between regions A and webs B and to stretch the material to form webs B while stretching the material less or not at all to form regions A. Preferably at least one of the grooved rollers has crests with a waved surface shape.
TYRE FOR WHEELS OF HEAVY TRANSPORT VEHICLES
A tyre includes a carcass structure including at least one carcass ply, a belt structure applied in a radially outer position with respect to the carcass structure, and a tread band applied in a radially outer position with respect to the belt structure. The belt structure includes two main belt layers and first and second reinforcing strips incorporating a plurality of reinforcing elements arranged substantially in the circumferential direction. The reinforcing elements include at least one high-elongation metal cord including a plurality of intertwined strands, and each strand includes a plurality of filaments. Each filament has a diameter not greater than 0.175 mm.
MULTIDIRECTIONAL FIBER-REINFORCED TAPE/FILM ARTICLES AND THE METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
High tenacity, high elongation multi-filament polymeric tapes as well as ballistic resistant fabrics, composites and articles made therefrom. The tapes are fabricated from multi-filament fibers/yarns that are twisted together, bonded together, compressed and flattened.
Computer apparatus for analyzing medical images for diffusion-weighted abnormalities or infarct and generating prescriptions
Image processing and analysis technique includes using a computer apparatus to identify a region of pathology in a patient's magnetic resonance images and then automatically generating a prescription based on the identification of the pathology. Examples include an apparatus that identifies a region of acute infarction and prescribes additional scanning, a magnetic resonance angiographic sequence, and/or a perfusion sequence.
