FLAME RESISTANT FABRICS AND GARMENTS MADE FROM SAME
20170167058 · 2017-06-15 · ·

Unique blends of fibers that incorporate synthetic cellulosic fibers to render fabrics made with such blends more durable than fabrics made with natural cellulosic fibers such as cotton. While more durable than cotton, the synthetic cellulosic fibers used in the blends are still inexpensive and comfortable to the wearer. Thus, the benefits of cotton (affordability and comfort) are still attained while a drawback of cottonlow durabilityis avoided. In one embodiment, the fiber blend includes FR modacrylic fibers and synthetic cellulosic fibers, preferably, but not necessarily non-FR lyocell fibers such as TENCEL and TENCEL A100. Other fibers may be added to the blend, including, but not limited to, additional types of inherently FR fibers, anti-static fibers, anti-microbial fibers, stretch fibers, and/or high tenacity fibers. The fiber blends disclosed herein may be used to form various types of FR fabrics. Desired colors may be imparted in a variety of ways and with a variety of dyes to the fabrics disclosed herein. Fabrics having the fibers blends disclosed herein can be used to construct the entirety of, or various portions of, a variety of protective garments for protecting the wearer against electrical arc flash and flames, including, but not limited to, coveralls, jumpsuits, shirts, jackets, vests, and trousers.

UPPER FOR AN ARTICLE OF FOOTWEAR WITH AT LEAST ONE STRAND FOR LASTING

Articles of clothing that incorporate fabrics or chemicals having wicking, antibacterial/antifungal and low coefficients of friction either overall or in specific areas of the apparel that will minimize the development of irritation, bacterial and fungal infections of the skin. The invention also includes methods for producing this wicking, antibacterial/antifungal and low coefficient of friction apparel.

Flame-retardant waterproof stretchable composite fabric, pillow or mattress protector using said fabric and use of said fabric as a protective screen

The composite fabric is suitable as a flame barrier for different articles, such as mattresses, pillows, seats and upholstered furniture and is made from a plurality of joined breathable layers including at least one textile layer and one impervious layer joined including a knitted textile layer made of cellulose fibers of natural renewable origin including at least 50% of cellulose flame-retardant fibers, and the impervious layer including an halogen free plastic material selected among polyurethane or polyester incorporating a known flame-retardant or inhibitor additive.

APPAREL ITEM CONFIGURED FOR REDUCED CLING PERCEPTION
20170071275 · 2017-03-16 ·

An apparel item configured to reduce the perception of cling is provided herein. The apparel item comprises a first set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a first portion of the apparel item, a second set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a second portion of the apparel item, and a third set of inwardly-projecting nodes on a third portion of the apparel item, where the third set of nodes is positioned between the first set of nodes and the second set of nodes. The first and second sets of outwardly-projecting nodes comprise apertures that provide a communication passage from an outer surface of the apparel item to an inner surface of the apparel item. Besides reducing the surface area of the apparel item that comes into contact with a wearer's skin surface, the nodes also facilitate cooling the wearer and speed up drying times of the apparel item when being worn.

Method of lasting an article of footwear
09578928 · 2017-02-28 · ·

A method of manufacturing an article of footwear may include assembling at least a portion of an upper of the article of footwear, the upper having a lower perimeter edge. A knitted component forming a portion of the upper includes at least one strand formed with the knitted component. The strand passes through opposite sides of the upper along the lower perimeter edge. The strand is tensioned, and a sole structure of the article of footwear is joined to the upper.

Methods of joining textiles and other elements incorporating a thermoplastic polymer material

A yarn or thread may include a plurality of substantially aligned filaments, with at least ninety-five percent of a material of the filaments being a thermoplastic polymer material. Various woven textiles and knitted textiles may be formed from the yarn or thread. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be thermal bonded to other elements to form seams. A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.

Highly functional polyethylene fibers, woven or knit fabric, and cut-resistant glove

A polyethylene fiber characterized by having an intrinsic viscosity [] of 0.8 dL/g or more and less than 5 dL/g; being composed of a repeating unit substantially derived from ethylene; having pores formed inside of the fiber; having an average diameter of the pores of ranging from 3 nm to 1 m when the diameter is measured, by each pore being approximated by a column, at a contact angle of 140 degrees, in a mercury intrusion method; a porosity of the pores of ranging from 1.5% to 20%; and having a tensile strength greater than or equal to 8 cN/dtex.

Apparel with cling reduction features

Aspects herein are directed to articles of apparel formed from a base textile and including a plurality of discrete overlay film structures affixed to the base textile at one or more locations on the article of apparel. When exposed to an external stimulus, the film structures undergo an increase in dimension in at least the z-direction and the base textile undergoes a change in dimension in at least the z-direction to produce stand-off nodes.
