OIL-WATER SEPARATION FILTER STRUCTURE AND OIL-WATER SEPARATOR COMPRISING THE SAME
The present disclosure is directed to providing an oil-water separation filter structure including a base guide having a separated water outlet hole through which a fluid separated from a mixed fluid including an impurity exits, an oil-water separation filter disposed on the base guide to separate the impurity and the fluid included in the mixed liquid, and a top guide disposed on the oil-water separation filter, having at least one mixed fluid inlet hole through which the mixed fluid enters, and coupled to the base guide.
According to the present disclosure, the oil-water separation filter structure includes a hydrophilic material to separate water and oil, and as opposed to the existing nonwoven fabric type filters, can be continuously used, thereby preventing environmental pollution problems.
Rapid-deployment oil spill containment boom and method of deployment
A rapid-deployment system for containing oil spills and similar water contaminations comprises a pre-manufactured sleeve having air-inflatable or gas-inflatable compartments and water inflatable compartments. In some embodiments uninflated sleeve is stored as a reel of sleeve material, and the deployment system, optionally mounted in a small boat, comprises a machine for inflating the air and water compartments at the site of a spill. In some embodiments, air and/or water compartments may be self-inflating.
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR RECOVERY AND/OR BIOREMEDIATION OF OIL SPILLS AND/OR HYDROCARBONS
A composition and method for recovery and/or bioremediation of oil spills and/or hydrophobic hydrocarbons includes (a) cellulosic material, (b) a charged polymer adsorbed to the cellulosic material, and optionally (c) microorganisms combined with the polymer and/or cellulosic material.
Oil and aqueous phase separator
Oil and aqueous phase separator device comprising: a basket that comprises a frame having a plurality of supporting arms and fitting means for linking to other phase separator devices; a top lid of the basket; a hydrophobic mesh linked to the basket and supported by the plurality of supporting arms; a plurality of floats linked to the frame of the basket; a housing for an additional float formed on the upper edge of the frame of the basket; and discharging means linked to the basket.
Recovery of crude oil from a crude oil adsorbent and simultaneous regeneration of the adsorbent
A method of recovering crude oil from crude oil drenched adsorbent and simultaneously regenerating the adsorbent to render it suitable for re-use in crude oil adsorption. The method includes contacting crude oil drenched adsorbent, in the form of solid nanofibrous expanded polystyrene drenched with adsorbed crude oil, with a non-polar solvent, thereby obtaining regenerated crude oil lean adsorbent and crude oil rich solvent.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PICKING UP OIL FROM THE SURFACE OF WATER
The invention relates to a device for taking up oil from a water surface, comprising a container for receiving the oil and an oil-transporting means, wherein a portion of the oil-transporting means can be brought into fluid communication with the water surface and another portion of the oil-transporting means is disposed within the container, wherein the oil can be transported into the container via the oil-transporting means, wherein the oil-transporting means is formed from a hydrophobic fabric, the surface of which comprises filament-shaped and/or grid-like structures which are designed in such a way that they retain a gas layer on the surface of the hydrophobic fabric under water. The invention further relates to a corresponding method for taking up oil from a water surface.
Oil spill spread prevention by immediate containment
A boom for containing floating material spilled in water including an elongated sheet including units and spaces between the units, each one of the units including a plurality of plates attached to the sheet, designed to fold flat when packed, and to self-expand into a polygonal cross-sectional shape when unpacked. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
PRODUCTS AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF MIXTURES OF WATER AND HYDROPHOBIC LIQUIDS
Chemical-based methods and products for mitigating the impact of an oil spill are disclosed. The products act by herding, thickening, gelling, and reducing adhesiveness. N-fatty acid amino acid (FA-AA) conjugates display oil-herding behavior when formulated as a free acid in water-miscible organic solvents. A water-miscible organic solvent is not required if the FA-AA conjugate is formulated as a salt. Various salts of FA-AA conjugates are water soluble and can herd oils and increase the thickness of the oil layer. Replacement of the acid group of fatty acid α-amino acid conjugates with other groups that act as hydrogen bond donors and acceptors results in potent phase selective organo-gellants. The oil spill herders can be prepared from bio-based feedstocks and are biodegradable. The oil thickeners or gellants, which are prepared from bio-based feedstocks, have low toxicity, high capacity for oil and reduce the need to use an organic solvent to apply the thickener or gellant to the oil and water mixture in order to gel the oil phase. Automated system for cleaning and recovering spilled oil in the ocean using hair felt rollers
An oil spill retrieval system for retrieving spilled oil from the surface of a body of water and including a boat having means for collecting the oil from the water surface and having means for processing the collected oil. A pontoon boat that collects spilled oil from the ocean through a hair roller system suspended between the pontoons. Human hair is present within a porous casing of the roller and Oil floating on the water enters the porous casing whereupon the oil is absorbed by the human hair, wherein the absorbed oil is pass through one or more pipes to go into large pontoons which are the main oil collecting tanks on the pontoon boat.
A SKIMMING AND SEPARATION DEVICE - CENTRAL ROTATING FLOW
A skimming and separation device comprising an outer casing (1) provided with constructions to directly or indirectly fasten all parts, defining a compartment (2), and a floater (3) configured to create the skimming function of the device, the floater is attached at its lower side to an essentially vertically arranged bellow (4) allowing the floater to adapt flow into a substantially circum volume and allowing the floater to move from an upper position with essentially no flow into the compartment (2) to a lower position allowing flow of water and debris follow the contours of the floater (3) in a downward direction into the device. A power device (8) is provided and includes a propeller to achieve in-flow and outflow of the device. The device further comprises a central tube (c) arranged along a vertical center axis of the compartment and configured to receive said flow of water and debris, and at least one central rotation member being structured to generate a downward directed and central rotating flow of said water and debris within said central tube (c).
