A wind park control system for controlling wind turbines of a wind park during a plant controller handover is provided. A plurality of plant controllers compute control values on the basis of system input data, which plant controllers are realized to operate in parallel. One of the plant controllers operates as an active plant controller for computing control values for controlling the wind turbines. One further plant controller operates as a standby plant controller. An output means continually issues control values to the wind turbines of the wind park. A handover arrangement for handing over control from the hitherto active plant controller to an operative standby plant controller is provided such that that standby plant controller then assumes the function of active plant controller. Further, a wind park, a method of controlling a wind park, and a method of performing a plant controller handover in a wind park are provided.

Converter interconnected with a wind power generation farm to enable continuous power transmission and operating method thereof

A converter and an operation method thereof are provided. A converter interconnected with a wind power generation farm includes a power monitor unit configured to detect a direct-current voltage of an entire system interconnected with the converter, a control unit configured to compare the detected direct-current voltage of the entire system with a reference voltage and adjust an alternating-current voltage that is supplied to the wind power generation farm to a preset value, and a switching unit configured to perform a switching operation based on the adjusted preset value to convert alternating-current power into direct-current power.

Masterless distributed power transfer control

A method of power transfer control among a plurality of power sources coupled through a distribution system. The method comprises determining, at each power source of the plurality of power sources, an assignment of priorities for each of the plurality of power sources. The method also comprises obtaining, at each power source, information indicating an availability of each of the plurality of power sources and determining a set of available power sources, and identifying, at each power source, a preferred power source and a standby power source from the plurality of power sources. The method further comprises determining to change the preferred power source from a first power source to a second power source in response to detecting a condition, and conducting the power transfer.

A modular HVDC platform and a method for constructing the same are disclosed herein. The modular HVDC platform has a topside disposed on a structural jacket. The topside includes a first rectifier module, a second rectifier module, and a utility module. The first and second rectifier modules have equipment for converting AC power to DC power disposed therein. The utility module contains equipment for supporting the operations of the rectifier modules. Each of the rectifier modules and the utility modules can be fabricated and commissioned onshore prior to installation on the structural jacket at an offshore location.

Third party energy management

A system of modules which control and measure energy usage at a building which are in communication with a software program executing on a remote server controlled by a third party. The third party said usage via the software program which communicates with the modules to modify energy usage and demand for energy and is responsible or liable for energy usage charges the building where the third party does not actually use the energy.

Method of operating at least one wind turbine, and device therefor

A method of operating at least one wind turbine including: receiving a first signal which is indicative of a level of a remuneration for electrical energy, which is fed currently and/or in the future into a grid to which the wind turbine is connected, producing a control signal dependent on the first signal, and controlling the wind turbine with the control signal for generating power of the wind turbine, that is dependent on the control signal. A wind turbine and a central control for carrying out such a method and a system comprising a central control and a plurality of wind turbines.

POWER OPTIMIZATION FOR BATTERY POWERED STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM
20170367153 · 2017-12-21 · ·

A network is disclosed of a plurality of outdoor lighting units. Each lighting unit comprises a light fixture, for example a LED lamp; a power generating means, such as a solar panel or a wind turbine; and a storage means for electric energy, for example a battery.

The energy storage means of neighboring lighting units are connected by a conductor. An imbalance in power generation or power consumption results in a balancing current through the conductor. The balancing current equalizes the charge levels of the energy storage means in the system.

In an embodiment the conductor comprises a single core wire and ground.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CHARGE OF AN ENERGY STORAGE DEVICE FROM A RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE
20170366014 · 2017-12-21 ·

Systems and methods for controlling the charge of an energy storage device include determining an estimated energy production prediction for an energy source from a present time to a target time by which an energy storage device is desired to reach a top of charge (TOC) energy level when being charged by the energy source. An available amount of energy for storage at the energy storage device if the energy storage device is charged from the energy source at a first charge rate from the present time until the target time is determined. A present charge rate for the energy storage device is controlled to be the first charge rate when the available amount of energy is less than the energy storage capacity of the energy storage device and to be a second charge rate less than the first charge rate when otherwise.
